We really need to come up with a Butch Jones interview drinking game. He's like Mexican food when he gives an interview. It's the same 10 things every time, just in a different order.

I remember reading a Cincy fan's thoughts on Butch shortly after he accepted the Tennessee job.

There was no love lost there, but his biggest criticism was that Butch was the biggest phony of all time and that he was a snake oil salesman because of his cliches and his robotic coach speak.

I think that given the context of Butch's brief tenure at Cincy and that he seemingly only maintained the status quo after Brian Kelly, that fan was probably justified in believing that at the time, but it's clear that Butch knows he stands to gain virtually nothing by doing media appearances other than simply plugging the program.

There are a lot of coaches who let their egos do the talking when they get a microphone in front of their faces, but Butch never strays off topic.

I imagine he will loosen up considerably once he establishes himself in the conference and has a roster that can go toe-to-toe with any in the country, but right now he's just trying to sell the program and playing time to recruits. No reason to go off the cuff or off message.

He does it on purpose. It's part of him one team/one message throughout the entire organization. You say it enough times it becomes second nature to everyone. Everyone gets the simple message and it never changes. No miscommunication. It's funny to me. Looooves calling people individuals.

Good post. Not that you care but when you post, I find myself agreeing with you the majority of the time. We think a lot alike.

I haven't heard him much recently, but he loves talking about "temperament" when talking about his players and his offense.

This. Watch interviews with Sutton, Dobbs, and Maggitt and they are using the exact same language. Buy In.

Cept it doesn't...most fans being asked that question would say Jerry Rice was a better ATHLETE than Willie Gault...when they meant PLAYER.

Which is what I just said??

Edit: For those that are not math savvy, "=/=" means "does not equal".

In the programming world it's usually != (C, C++, Java, C#, Javascript, etc...) or <> (VB, Pascal) . However you also use == to mean equal in value for most C like languages. = usually means assignment (x = 1).

@Audra_Martin #Titans wide receiver Justin Hunter arrested in Virginia Beach. Jail report says charges are "Malicious intent, stabbing, cutting, wounding"

Geez. The most random people getting in trouble for some serious stuff. Something you would have thought to see Darick not Justin
