Arkansas beat writer was on in Atlanta a couple of days ago. He thought Arkansas would struggle defensively this year. He said they lost every single playmaker they had on D and they were struggling finding someone to replace them.

I've been saying that, but ALL the local media here are saying they're going to be even better, that all the improvement had nothing to do with players because they were all there the year before when they had the worst defense in the league; but had everything to do with Rob Smith who was the only thing that changed.

I'm sure Smith is fine, but I just don't see how you lose 5/5 of your top D players and not take a step back unless you've been recruiting at a high level, which they haven't.

You remember the beat writer's name?

Their O will be much better though. They upgraded big time at WR, and their OL and RB are all a year more seasoned. Going to be an awesome game against them I think.

My take from the game: Didn't get to see Kamara do much. Jennings looks really raw. The OL got pushed around (ugh). Too many dropped balls.

Dobbs looked good. Dormady looked good. Hurd looked good. DL looked aggressive. Medley has a good leg.

Overall it was interesting to watch but it's way too early to tell anything, especially with 13 players injured.

Medley has a GOOD leg???

He will leave as the greatest kicker in UT history. Guaranteed if it comes down to it... Butch will let him try a 60+ FG.

He has an NFL all pro leg

I'll try to find it. He was on the Bulldog Roundtable and they were doing segments on all the other teams (besides UGA) in the conference.

Dobbs - Perfect for this offense and a real team leader. Please stay healthy.
Kamara - Oh yeah!
Sutton - Moving past mortal man.
O-line - Only getting beat on stunts - fixable. Forget the Sanders/Blair negativity - improved.
JJ - Top WR in waiting.
Dormady - Bright future. Very nice arm and good mobility.
Wolf - Future NFL TE.
J-Johnson - good weapon in the slot. Malone has improved. Pig is strong.
Secondary will now be top ten ready. Ev-Berry is going to be special. Want to see Martin.
DL/LB - Waiting for fall practice.

Even with 13 guys out and half the '15 class still to report - the roster is noticeably improved over last year's at this same point. The S&C and extra year in the system are paying dividends to go with the better talent.

I agree with this...

I have to agree on all accounts. Watching him boom a 56 yarder like it was nothing, and then kicking the kickoff into the stands back-to-back? Ridiculous

Where were all those kickoffs last year? I kept telling everyone to watch out kicker because he was going to blast kickoffs through the uprights (I exaggerated), and I think he had maybe a couple touchbacks?

I think Butch has him ease up on it a bit to give special teams a chance to force a turnover on the return.

Think I recall he had an ankle injury for most of the year.

I've seen him kick a 65 yard FG while goofing around. He can consistently kick through the uprights on kick offs. Butch named the brick wall in Neyland Medleys Wall because he hits it so often on kick offs.

I don't think it's to force turnovers. But a touchback gives them the ball at the 25, and Butch trusts our coverage unit to consistently stop them well short of that.

That makes sense. I think there was one or two out the back of the end zone all year that I can remember. I think huge returns happen more than turnovers, so I'm not a fan of the intentional easing up on kickoffs

Stuck at work today so no O&W game for me this year, but I'm pretty sure Peyton just flew through my airspace so that kinda makes up for it.
