Going to have to disagree here.

Phillips- 260lb backup DE
Picou- Package deal, not sure he would have been recruited if not for Austin Smith
Bain- Walkon

It is pretty freakin bad. We really couldn't afford to lose one of O'Brien, Tuttle, McKenzie, and Vickers and we lost three. I will be very impressed with the coaches and the players themselves for stepping up if they are even serviceable.

That is why I am laughing at folks on here that think we are going to roll KY.... their strength is literally our weakness right now and they will exploit it... We can only hope Shoop works the bend but not break plan and force some field goals, not giving up any huge runs up the middle...

I'm rewatching the game right now, and I love seeing Dormady adjust the protection when he sees blitz. The offense was clicking with him in. I feel more comfortable if he does take over next year. JG has great potential. Spring will be interesting

I agree. We've seen how horrible this offense is when Dobbs won't run the ball and teams don't have to wonder who has the ball. If butch insists on this offense, no way someone as slow as Dormady (who isn't Bray/Manning slow, but still not fast enough to scare an LB/DE) can be successful here. If Butch changes the offense to fit Dormady, he could do well I think. Good arm, accurate, doesn't freak out. Not amazing, but adequate.

I'm not sure it's the system that isn't very good when Dobbs isn't running. Dobbs may just not be very good when he isn't running.

The blocking schemes may have to be tweaked but having a QB that can fake the zone read to the running back and then attack down the field may work better in the offense then a mobile QB that's not a great passer. I'm not sure if Dormady will be successful (I agree he looks pretty good in the little bit we've seen) but I think how good he is will depend more on him than the system.

A QB can't fake a zone read if he's not good at running. The fake only works if the defense believes the QB might run it.

Quay could have easily went to OSU and we had to fight them off to the morning of signing day.

Yeah, preseason hype from those guys should be ignored. Every.Year.

In principle I agree. However at certain positions it does mean more than others. A qb can show you a lot of arm talent in non-game situations. Or lack thereof

DL or OL on the other hand can show very little if the pads aren't on in real game situations

The Kahlil McKenzie hype was overblown as well. Nigel Warrior too.

KMack was supposedly "unblockable" during fall camp for the second year in a row. Probably more an indictment on our OL than anything else. Especially if he was going up against the same Coleman Thomas we saw get abused by App State.

I'd imagine that in 1v1 situations Kmac is close to unblockable by our line. In actual games where he is being double teamed, that doesn't work so well.

He's occupying blockers like he's supposed to.

id be willing to bet the qb competition goes well into fall camp next year.

Without a doubt. Especially with the way Butch is with giving out info. Honestly I feel like one of the QB's isn't going to be BS'd into staying all the way into fall camp, that way they can transfer and sit out next season.
