Can't risk Kamara or Sutton in the return game and CBJ probably wants an experienced guy who's usually pretty steady.

I hope Cam is back there next week. Smith is atrocious, and costs us 10-20 yards of field position almost every time he's back there. He's scared to run up and catch the ball in the air before it bounces.

Anyone catch Jimmy and Faud last night?

They were being pretty negative.

They cared way more about what happened after it was was 49-22 than I do.

Jimmy VERY critical of Shoop. Faud a little more forgiving, but still critical.

Earlier in the year both guys fully agreed DeBord should go. They've relaxed on this a bit (and by that I mean instead of full blown hating him they are just frustrated with his game to game inconsistency)

Faud made the case that he would rather have a consistent average OC than an inconsistent good/bad one.

I couldn't honestly care less about what happened after we were up 27 and the game was ovee

Shoop has done a terrible job. Lots of experienced players playing in that secondary that can't play dead in a western.

Outside of Sutton, we haven't had a corner that can defend a go route up the sideline in years. Buccanon might get there, but If Moseley hasn't gotten there by now, I don't know that he will. Bowling Green exposed us on that last year.

I was as concerned about LB depth, especially MLB behind Kirkland, coming into the season as any other spot. A&M and Bama targeted our lack of LB depth and beat us over the head with it. Now that DT injuries have made depth an issue there too, it's double trouble when it comes to stopping the run.

Iirc, Shoop also expressed some concerns about s&c following the Bama game, and I don't just think he was throwing shade. The D has often played well enough to win this year. I think most of our first half struggles this year could be attributed more to consecutive 3 and out possessions on offense. A lack of complimentary offense can really make a D seem much worse than it really is. Shoop is pretty proven and there's a reason several major programs were lined up to make him a millionaire this offseason. For all these reasons, I'll reserve judgement on him. I'd actually like to see what would happen if Jones let him bring in his own guys to coach corners and LB's.

There's no way Smith is the best option. He's muffed punts in two games now, and like you said he never runs up to catch short punts. On the off chance he does actually field a punt, he's the opposite of dynamic. We'd be better off rushing eleven if that's who the coaches are dead set on putting in.

Not sure we'll ever see Cam back there again. He played a week earlier than planned because he was needed and wanted to help. I think JSmith is back there for the same reason-- because the coaches asked him to do it and he goes where needed. Luckily, we have a lot of those team players-- seems like half the team played out of position against UK!

You are one of the top 5 worst posters on this board. Or bottom 5, however you want to put it

Wow, did some digging on this-- first quarter of the game... we were getting gashed and they marched down and scored in three plays.... defense looked unprepared again...many folks echoing the same feeling at that point. Idiot post to pull this the day after randomly... whatever.

Smith doesn't have any business taking another punt... there should be at least 2-3 better options still.

The coaches poll is such a joke.

I really feel teams should be punished for losing.

It's like the voters say well they lost but I still think they are good so I won't drop them.

If you are in the top 10 undefeated and then lose you should drop out of the top 10.

And looking at schools with 3 losses in the polls yet we aren't one of them is crazy.

Our losses are just as good as FSUs. And our Wins are more impressive.

This is dumb. No respect.

The polls are not a true representation.

LAVol, can you tell us why Calloway didn't get a chance yesterday after scoring a TD last week?!! What is Butch so afraid of? You already pulled his redshirt good grief.

No question UT is being undervalued in the rankings. When aTm lost their second game, they dropped a few spots-- UT dropped nine. When UT lost game three, we dropped 13 spots to #31.

The narrative on UT and CBJ is negative, so we may not be ranked unless we win the SECE. Every single SEC team but Bama and UF has at least three losses-- and UF likely will have three losses after next week and perhaps four losses after FSU. That's what happens in a conference like the SEC where good teams cannibalize each other while lesser conferences get inflated rankings playing nobodies.

I'd like to see how a healthy UT team would fare against this Bama team. In our current state we are no match for them at all.

If we make it to the title game this will be the first time we'll ever have matched up with Bama, right?

It would be the first time anynof the big six would face their yearly rivalry in ATL if it happens.

UGA-Aub
UF-LSU
Bama-TN

Have all never happened.

Would be cool if TSIO is the first one to accomplish that.

CBJ values seniority and likes to play experienced players over freshmen. Nigel Warrior is another example of that.

You declared a loss. You're reactionary. Own it. :)

It's hilarious!! FSU at 15??? UNC at 23??? Common opponents...Va Tech and Georgia...UNC loses to both (one by a throttling), and TN beats both (one by a throttling). TN bad loss to USCe who is 5-5 and should be bowl eligible after next week. UNC bad loss to a 3-6 Duke team. Yet, they are almost 10 spots better than us??? Whatever! I hate the rankings.

Texas A&M still ranked after being beaten soundly by a 3-5 Miss St team, then loses at home in a night game to a 4-5 Ole Miss team, who started a true FR with his first snaps of the year. Yet, we are still unranked. Idiotic!
