Anybody that saw JJ play in HS, as Volatil stated, knew that if he did not play QB at UT he should be the starting safety as a true freshman. He is a first round NFL pick waiting to happen as a S. He is not used enough to be a WR, which is understandable when you have Malone and other solid talent at that position waiting to emerge and be given a shot like Callaway, Johnson, and others. Those two alone are game breakers and they sit the bench. When added to Malone and occasional use of Smith and Wolf, you have all you need in the passing game in this offense. JJ has the dog about the ball. He also likes to mix it up, has good speed/quickness, and knows how to use his body for the best effect. He will light people up. If covering a TE, he would win most of the battles. Picture JJ playing centerfield, see the formations/motion/game situations with his offensive mindset. Then picture what happens next as the play unfolds and the dog takes over. Makes me happy just thinking about it as well as sad that he is not used there.
Abernathy is a corner. BrB and I agree on this. He has really good quickness/coverage skills and will try to locate the ball. He comes up enough to make tackles on the edge near the LOS. He is physical enough to handle the WR's at CB. But he is not a S unless he is backing up for injuries. He doesn't have the dog; he is physically and maybe mentally limited for that position.

Dalvin Cook vs our DL isn't a matchup I want to see
