We might have cost South Carolina a chance at playing for the national championship that day. I think they could have beat Auburn in ATL and gone on to play FSU.

Remember this catch?

Bingo. They are the most corrupt program that we have probably ever seen. I don't want to be a fan of something like that. I hope at some point it all comes out, and they get hammered so hard that they live in mediocrity for 20+ years.

This, I want them to get the "Death Penalty", SMU style.

I'm still not sure what happened to that dude, but thank you for that moment Marquez North

He really looked like a future star that game.

I kinda feel like between all the struggles to get him the ball and the injuries he just lost the competitive fire sometime his sophomore year.

Didn't CLS say at the beginning he's never coached special teams

Special teams definitely has not been as good. It hasn't been bad but went from elite to pretty good. Part of that could be Berry doesn't get many chances anymore. In limited chances our return teams are starting to get some gains but some penalties from young guys have hurt. So depth could be what is hurting making teams younger

I don't see ST listed on Larry Scott's wiki bio, but the team practices it quite a lot, and the guys seem to take pride in it. It just hasn't been as good this year, but it's hard to maintain that level year in and year out. Still, I was hoping.

Ya, coaches have to own drops to an extent, but the TE are wide, WIDE open most of the time. I haven't been paying attention to the blocking of our TE, but it seems like our TE are doing everything right except they drop the ball.

I remember Doug Mathews complaining about Wolf's blocking earlier in the year. I haven't focused on it, but I've seen him lose a block or two here and there for sure. It's year one for Scott. I hope to have a few years to see what he can do.

I'm kind of the same with Shoop. I just haven't been as impressed as I'd hoped to be. Part of it's the insane hype coming in to the year, and part of it's the insane amount of injuries. Hopefully, they get their feet completely under them for this last stretch and on into next year. Taking out that LB tandem really hurt. Adding in your all-conference CB just made it worse.

Well, let's face facts the SEC and the NCAA allows it. Only way to change things is if we get rid of both of these corrupt, and often criminal, organizations. The NCAA is a lot like FIFA, just dirty as all get out. The SEC is almost as bad if not worse. If anyone else tried to do the same things as Bama in football, they'd get the death penalty. They pay players mor than anyone else, they have a steroids program that doesn't get investigated, they have the officials in their back pockets and get tons of no calls, and it goes on and on. Dirty. That's not gonna change anytime soon.

a possible theory on the volume of injuries we have had this season:

Due to depth/talent problems when CBJ arrived, we have been forced to play guys since their freshman year against the brutality of the SEC, a grown man's league. Rather than give our guys 2 and 3 years out of high school to get stronger and develop, guys like JRM, Sutton, KMac, Kirkland, Hall, Jones, Abernathy, etc. were forced into action as freshmen before their bodies were physically prepared for it. Over time, perhaps the totality of the physicality at this level (before their bodies were ready) put them in a position where injuries were more likely to occur.

Obviously not a hard and fast rule, and there is no way to prove it... but just a theory as to why it seems we have been hit harder by the injury bug this year than most teams ever have.

I think our lack competitiveness with AL goes well beyond Butch and his coaches, and recruiting. AL has a program that is dedicated to being the best. They have an administration that has a whatever it takes mentality. They spend whatever it takes, they bend/break whatever rules are necessary, and they look over player indiscretions. The rules and some laws are an afterthought to them. They have zero fear of investigation by the NCAA and have little concern for prosecution from law enforcement, evidenced by the recent player run-ins with the law.

When competing against this type of system the cards are stacked against you.
They have an entire state and boosters who are willing to pay whatever is required to keep them on top. We all saw how quickly our players were ratted out by rival media and schools when they took diaper money. We'll never see that happen in Alabama.

They got popped for Albert Means. Nearly got the death penalty for it, too.

After what the TE group has done so far this year, I'm surprised to see anyone say they are underutilized. But it's a story that goes back forever. I remember people complaining about Fulmer not using TEs enough. This year's group has been inconsistent at best.

Larry Scott also took over special teams. That group has been pretty stagnant this year. I thought we'd see more from his areas. Injuries may have a bit to do with that as well.

ST's has always been a group effort under Butch...that hasn't changed. Berry and Kamara haven't brought any to the house this season...doubt Elder would have altered that. TE's were no great shake last season maybe it's the scheme? :dunno:

Alabama is the Hillary Clinton of football. Corrupt as they come and no one seems to care or can do anything about it. Who is going to investigate the NCAA? Congress? I wish they would. I wish it would all come crashing down on Saban's head. You would think he would have an enemy somewhere.

True, in 1999. They've closed ranks since then. Sure, they self report just enough infractions to appear accountable and they did fire a coach last spring, but otherwise, their only real worry is staying under the salary cap...

Completely different times than that. They would get a slap on the wrist probably for the same thing.

Someone mentioned we get ratted out by rival media for a player taking diaper money...remember it was proven DJ Fluker took $33k at the same time it came out that Mo Couch took $1500 for daughter's medical expenses. Mo never took another snap, and nothing happened to Bama with their end of DJ.

Thought pretty much the same thing
