Did I say I wanted Butch fired? Did I offer any solution? Did I say I wanted to quit? I threw it out there for discussion.

Maybe it's too much for you to handle?

Sorry..I'm just getting teed off at everything bubbagump right now. I'm up here in the land of the bandwagon alabubbers getting this moronic stupidity thrown in my face everyday by all these pathetic losers in Kentucky. They depend in the Boobers to let them know what it feels like T beat us more than once every half century...I am so sick of those cheating scumbags...no respect anymore.

On the field is the biggest problem

2016 College Football Team Talent Composite

Bama has 17 composite five stars. We have one. Our roster average is a three star. Bama's is a four star which is ridiculous for when accounting for 80 something players.

We have to go into that game healthy and he have to play our best game to have a chance.

So, Georgia is 6. Poor Kirby, he got the bare cupboard.

I knew my memory was bad. But Tuttle had nothing to do with strength and conditioning. Martin's ankle was rolled up in practice as I think I saw that picture. 4 of those guys weren't playing much. It's football.

Well you didn't specify, just listed all I knew

Honest question, if fully healthy how many of our players would start or even play for Bama? I know different systems make it kind of hard to judge.

Kamara, Sutton, although bad fits I believe JRM and Barnett, too.

Probably Dobbs

I bet they would of put JRM at SS. Bet he would be great there too.

Not sure who you can blame. Just blows my mind at how many.

I'm not a doctor, but I know a little about the subject. Anyone with more knowledge can feel free to correct me.

Connective tissue doesn't "toughen up to resist" injuries, due to harder practices. It can break down through overuse/under recovery, but the reports from camp were that the practices were less physical, so you can't go there.

Let's see... are our players stronger than ever? I'm not sure, but even if not, decreases in strength during training would absolutely be corrected, by anyone with even half of a brain. As much as Butch analyzes, you think he doesn't have their gym numbers in front of him, critiquing missed reps and drops in strength? Strength does not seem to be an issue, and connective tissue develops with an increase in muscle size.

Conditioning. Our guys don't get winded. They are in phenomenal cardiovascular conditioning.

__________

The fact is, the coaches took a less physical approach in fall camp, and no matter what you say, that really does not have any impact on the injuries, except in a positive way. As long as strength was not compromised in the gym, and thus, muscle loss, hitting each other only causes wear and tear, which is why you saw so many preseason injuries last year.

When huge, genetically elite players smash into each other for hours a week, 15+ weeks of the year, things tear, break, and break down. These are the facts, and we are simply seeing a statistically higher amount of injuries to key players than in recent memory. If you were to run statistical analysis over the past 4 years, you would likely see very similar numbers over all programs.

Last season, we were pretty dang healthy, this year, it's bad. Statistically, that probably washes out to average.

Everyone wants to be... and is chasing Bama results.

What they are doing annually is hard to imagine in this modern era of football. Fans have to continue to be patient. All of the talk of needing 22 5* on the field at one time to beat Bama is crazy. We are simply not at that point as a program.

Tennessee is at a place where we can potentially challenge for the East perennially. This will boost the program, and recruiting, and help us to land more recruits. Win the SEC, and that increases. Win the SEC a couple of times in 4 years, and we could start to see the top of the top recruits coming more often.

Meyer and Saban are on top of the college football world. Their rings and recent success sell. Tennessee is still not upper echelon for recruits. This year, we are coming into the conversation of being a top destination for recruits, but no one views Tennessee as a top 5 program. They have to steadily increase on the field results to raise their profile. We have absolutely done that this year, in the face of adversity.

The truth is, we will likely never recruit at a Bama or OSU level... unless you hire the equivalent of Saban, Meyer or Harbaugh. The drop off is steep from there, and risky, and I'm content with the growth I've seen from the program to let Butch wrestle with this thing and take it as high as he can go. It's going to take time, but we have done nothing but trend up, to a pretty good place so far.

I'm with you on the not knowing a lot about medicine but the body can be conditioned to get repeated beatings.

Would you say that repeated beatings result in optimal performance?

Let's say in theory, a player's injury occurred during his 122nd snap of the season. All other things being equal, how does it make sense that subjecting him to an additional 100 snaps during practice is going to benefit him. Doesn't that just move the time till injury closer?

Preach Nick. Couldn't agree more.

Our opponents thus far have a combined record of 34-6, excluding losses to us. The rest of our schedule has a combined record of 12-20. UK is the only team at .500 right now.

Did anyone see that South Carolina may start Bentley at QB this week? He is supposed to be a SR in high school. He reclassified and graduatwd high school early.

Barnett may actually kill him.

Ummmmm Sutton isn't a bad fit. Kamara, Kelly, or Hurd would start.

Kirkland would be a strong candidate at one of those LB spots they have.

Tuttle is better than Payne who's a sophomore too at DT.

Kelly Jr. fits Saban scheme as a SS very well.

Barnett is the best DE in America he'd start for sure. Not even up for debate.

KMack actually fits their D-line scheme extremely well. Dude is a force at the point of attack.

Gaulden would play a lot. Saban likes DBs like him. He'd have a spot back there for sure.

Funny how Humphrey and Avery look like Martin in coverage but they don't get flags thrown on them. And our fans overlook that because they are Bama. Lol

Fitzpatrick only does good in the short mid range area. Which is why he play a lot of nickel. Every deeper pass should've been a completion or a penalty Saturday versus them. The biggest advantage Bama has is the LBs to me personally. Their LBs make a lot of plays and set the tone in the running game all game. Our guys make maybe one big hit a game. They get big hits for the backers all game long. It's tough on a RB to deal with that. That's the best part about watching their defense. IMO The Linebackers flat out bring it all game long. I want us to develop LBs better where ours do the same. Guys like Bates and Bryant should be enforcers by now.

What does that say about Thigpen? I know he's a great recruiter, but it seems his player development is lacking.

He's not doing it well. IMO

His recruiting is why he's a coach. I don't remember Auburn Linebackers being particularly nasty either. JRM looked the same all 3 years as a starter. Kirkland looks like he's a year older with experience. But those guys will make plays. Jumper just started to play better versus Florida. The LBs really should've been killing all year. The line was eating enough blocks. A kid like Elliot Berry balling last week tells me all I need to know about Thigpen. Berry was flying around making plays. And is improving from taking the game more serious. IMO

Why aren't these guys dialed in as a group? How can Bryant be here 3 years but can't line a defense up properly? How is that possible?
