It will not be a popular statement, but I tend to agree. I think he would be a better HC today at UT than he would have been when first approached. I like competent HC's that have been scuffed up a bit. Strong has been trying to counter a Big 12 no-defense culture while getting a dead offense built and rebuild a competitive roster. Tall order. He knows and is proven on D, so that eliminates an issue.

He would have done better here if he took job when offered then he has done at TX. Timing not the issue. Wrong job wrong fit for him. He would have won at TN. We probably sign Ramsey and Bell in that first class because of his defensive background and connections instate. He was dumb for going to TX. He was made for the SEC and the south with his recruiting connections

I don't really expect it, but it would be nice. :)

Just hire Belichick. Need a coach who can cheat and mostly get away with it to beat a coach who can cheat and mostly get away with it.

Harbaugh didn't go to a bowl in either of his first two years. (4-8, 5-7). Year 3 was 8-5 with a loss in the Sun Bowl. Year 4 was 11-2 with an Orange Bowl win.
Stanford won 1 game the year before and 5 the year before that. He has never won a conference title in college, but I'm sure that will change soon.

But he DOES have a national championship on his resume, which is a greater accomplishment than any coach we have at the moment.

And like you said--his offense puts up points. I think it goes back to the abysmal 2013 offense and the early 2014 offense with Worley. Those games made a strong impression in people's minds that Butch's offense doesn't work, but Dobbs has proven that it does.

I agree on DeBord.

However, running a run-first, read option, spread offence with Worley was dumb. Can't blame people for feeling that way. Butch is a "system" guy.

Most people want a HC and OC that tries to get the best match up regardless of "system". It is what Kiffin is so good at.

Probably already answered, but the facemask would have been assessed and the net gain would have been less than where we were when the hold occurred. The facemask was early in the return before he broke free and got down the sideline. I do agree with you that there should have been some sort of foul on the tackle. He almost ended kicking Berry in the face with the way he brought him down.

Edit: I assume that they didn't assess the facemask at the end of the run or the end of the markoff for the hold because it was a live ball foul, but I am not sure that I understand that, either. I wish that I would have heard Rocky Goode's segment on the Sports Animal this week. I honestly believe that he probably would have explained it very well.

I think Kiffin is a good OC, but I don't think he's ever proven himself to be a good head coach. I'm sure he'll get that job somewhere next season. Can we hope Bama makes a bad hire?

I don't think with Bama it's as much about the Xs and Os as it is the Jimmys and Joes. They are so much more talented than everyone else.

If heard some Bama fans speculate that if Saban retires sooner, rather than later, that it's Kiffin as HC and Sark as OC.

Although "speculate" is a little strong..."scared as hell of that actually happening" is more accurate.

Please let that happen...he is best candidate for the savior that we hope for
For the bama program to fall into the abyss.

Just look at the way he torpedoed his dream job and relish the possibilities
