I love Athens, but I like West Knox better. And I know a lot of people in Athens who would rather live in Knoxville.

Speaking purely on the downtown areas Athens blows Knoxville away. As far as the cities as a whole I would pick Knoxville as well.

Totally agree there. I love the market square area, gay street, north Knox, but Athens downtown is pretty awesome. More to do overall in knoxville but downtown Athens is pretty fun.
