Apparently some UGA homers on the radio in ATL were practically foaming at the mouth at the possibility that Jones is going to get fired over this.

I was listening when they were talking about this. They aren't UGA homers and they don't really know college football well. One is from Minnesota and works for NBA TV and one is a Miami fan and a Falcons sideline reporter. They just ran with the phone call thing as being proof of a cover up and they thought CBJ would be fired by the end of the day. They were pretty uninformed about the whole situation. They also took all allegations of sexual assault as the truth.

Fired by the end of the day for making a few phone calls? That's hilarious

Sounds like Finebaum saying the allegation that Butch called Bowles a traitor being the most shocking thing he's ever heard of in his 30+ years of sports journalism. The level of hyperbole in this case is absurd.

Could it not have just taken a while to get a search warrant? I don't see what the big deal is. Police calls coach to give him a heads up that one of his players has been accused of something and coach calls the player and everyone else he can to find out as much info about the situation as possible. Seems like standard protocol to me. It's not like the police said hey coach AJ raped a girl and we are gonna give you some time to go over there and wash his sheets for him before we come search the place. They still found weed and a condom or something didn't they when they searched so it's not like the police called them for a heads up.

They thought that the phone call records were some kind of bombshell or something. That this was some sort of big surprise and they somehow jumped to the conclusion that a phone call is definitely a cover up. I think the bigger surprise is that a coach wouldn't call the players that may possibly be in trouble.

He already makes over $130,000 a year. I can't see a Gwinnett school paying that when there are lots of other schools in the same district. Plus, Colquitt is building a multi sport indoor practice facility. I would be shocked if that were to happen. Would be fun to laugh at the Colquitt folks on the GAVSV boards though.

Grayson hired Jeff Herron as HC. Former Camden and Oconee County HC.

Dear Media:

We know you want us to fire Butch Jones to give you fresh headlines for your sensationalistic agenda. Sorry, but we're not going to. We're going to ignore you and your silly attempts to make us look bad while we go about building a championship program here at UT. That'll give you something to write about in the fall.

Sincerely,
UT

I compared him to Bobby Wagner last year. And I said kid would be an all-pro in the NFL.

I don't think y'all realize how many high level NFL players are on this roster. Not just future pros but guys who'll make pro bowls.

Hurd, Kirkland, Sutton. Those are guys I expect to be perenial pro bowlers. And there's 4 or 5 other guys with the potential to do the same.

This has probably already been discussed somewhere on VN, but I remember seeing somewhere recently that the coaches plan to use kamara in more/some different situations this year. Anyone think we will see him in the slot a lot more this year?

I love the 2 back sets we showed last year, especially in the bowl game. And Dobbs under center with a TE as fullback was awesome.

Dave Bliss trying to portray one of his murdered players as a drug dealer to cover up illegal payments? Didn't register Paul?

I didn't read the article but what the hell is wrong with police calling coach? He is their "parental figure" and authority on campus. Of course he should be notified if one of his players is in trouble.

The "grey" area was that jones got a call and then called the accused before the apartment was searched by the police.

It could give the impression the police is in the back pocket of the program.

It's been proven over the years that KPD is most definitely NOT in the back pocket of any athletic program at UT

I agree.

Seems like a lot of flimsy dots that folks are trying real hard to connect together that say that the city of Knoxville and the school as a whole were trying to cover this incident up in some way and dont care about rape victims???

I guess that's the end goal they're trying to get across. I'm not sure anymore.

It seems like either they have evidence or they don't. If they had it they would have released it by now. At this point it's just a political push to try to make us look bad for some reason. There really are no condemning facts out there. This whole thing is effed up.

I follow this football program pretty closely, as do all of us. I would be shocked to learn that what's being speculated about our coach is in any way true.
