There should be a lot of sacks and INTs this year. We have lockdown corners and a mean edge rush.

I think we will have a top 5 defense this season. The offenses we face will be bad and the defense will be very, very stout. Going to make for some impressive numbers.

Problem will be teams will be playing from behind a lot. You really don't want that with the way our DEs can get to the QB without blitzing. Playoff bound and I'm not pumping the brakes either. 😁

Shoop on Kirkland

“I talked about Kirkland. I said it from the day I was here. You coach a long, long time, and he’s got kind of a unique personality. He thirsts for more. He really wants to be the leader of the defense. I don’t think it’s any coincidence that, when he started playing better, the team started playing better. He asks good questions. He challenges my thoughts. He’s not just a yes man.

“He’s the undisputed leader of the defense right now — command, runs the walk-through himself, commands his troops. Really has some of those qualities, when you think of really good middle linebackers and Luke Kuechly now — he can beat you with his mind and his athletic ability — or a Ray Lewis.

“And he likes studying those type of guys. And he and I will text late at night on things like, ‘Hey, what’d you think of this today?’ ‘Hey, stay on me about that. That’s good. But I like this.’ Things like that.”

Arky radio talking about how awful their middle of the field defense was last year.

"Every single team took advantage of that glaring weakness except for Tennessee. Thankfully they barely even tried us over the middle or we'd have definitely lost that game."

Ugh.

That is some high praise for a Sophomore. Excited to see what Shoop does with this D.

Ugh.

MUST attack other teams' weaknesses. Period.

Ugh.

That game was so atrocious that I nearly blocked it from my memory.

I compared him to Bobby Wagner last year. And I said kid would be an all-pro in the NFL.

I don't think y'all realize how many high level NFL players are on this roster. Not just future pros but guys who'll make pro bowls.

Hurd, Kirkland, Sutton. Those are guys I expect to be perenial pro bowlers. And there's 4 or 5 other guys with the potential to do the same.

Ugh.

That was my "one game a year" I make it to, and sitting behind the endzone you could see it open all night, was so frustrating!!!

You really don't think highly of any other poster here. So many of us have a clue. Not just you.

I don't think it's too much praise to say Kirkland has the potential to be one of the best LB's we've seen in *ahem* 18 years...if you know what I mean.
