I think that's the point though. Our best athletes are training for football, baseball, or basketball the way Europeans are training for soccer.

If our best athletes were all funneled into soccer and worked at it the way they do other sports, the US would be a soccer powerhouse.

I just don't think we absolutely need our best athletes. It's not like our current team is a bunch of scrappy, unathletic players. If our youth training was more on par with Europeans we could continue to field a team of our 2nd-3rd tier athletes but we would actually be a power.

His QB had as much or more to do with that.

His QB was good but didn't torch our DBs, he did. His QB just put it on the money when he got 5 yards+ behind them.

Hopefully that is a thing of the past.

That's incorrect. 1964 and 1978 are controversial as well.

In 1964 the AP and UPI named them NC's. Those were the 2 prevailing polls at the time. That was before they changed the crowning until after bowl games and they went undefeated in the regular season and crowned. I don't know how that can be debated. It's no different than UT losing the 1952 Sugar Bowl but being crowned 1951 NC's.

In 1978 they had 1 loss and beat the #1 team in the country for their bowl win. Maybe it wasn't unanimous but few were back then.

I certainly would. Barred 10 years from doing his job? Ridiculous.

The man could coach. I heard Gary Parrish talk about it while it was going on. He said that some of the things that Tyndall did happen all across the country- they just don't get caught.
