Fourth Down For What?: Fourth and short was the theme of one of the early open periods of practice as Butch Jones lined the starting and second-team offenses up against their counterparts.

I counted five wins for the offense in eight total reps, but given the nature of the drill, that’s a pretty good showing by the defense. Then again, with the quarterback not live, it does give the defense more of an advantage since all it has to do is tag the very elusive Joshua Dobbs or the decently athletic Quinten Dormady.

I thought John Kelly ran well in this drill, picking up a couple first downs, Malik Foreman was in great position to make one of the stops for the defense and Vincent Perry made a nice grab as well for the biggest play during that drill.

Green team: Walk-on receiver Michael Lacey and linebacker Colton Jumper were the only two in green, non-contact jerseys on Thursday afternoon.

Who stood out:

• The less experienced wide receivers: Vincent Perry and Jeff George both had good days I thought, at least in the open portion of practice. Both seem to be playing with more confidence and George, especially, seems to have taken a few steps the last few days. He still needs a lot of food and weight training this offseason, but his confidence and technique looks better overall. Perry’s just had a solid spring overall. I expect him to be a factor in the wide receiver rotation come September.

• CBs Malik Foreman and Emmanuel Moseley: These are a couple guys you probably haven’t heard as much about this spring with much of the (deserved) buzz surrounding Cam Sutton and Justin Martin at the cornerback position. But Foreman has continued to build on his strong finish to the 2015 season and certainly remains a solid option at nickelback, especially if Rashaan Gaulden ultimately ends up at safety. Moseley is a solid third corner option behind Sutton and Martin at this point.

• QB Quinten Dormady: He’s throwing the ball really well, and I like his delivery and mechanics this spring. He’s really taking advantage of this time with Sheriron Jones out and Jarrett Guarantano not on campus yet.

• RB John Kelly: He does something every practice seemingly to catch my eye. He’ll fade into the background a bit in 2016 if Jalen Hurd and Alvin Kamara are healthy all year, but he has a great chance to be a big part of the future at running back.

Thanks CAT

I think we may have kicked the tires with Herman to make it look like it was a search. But think about it. Why would McGarity fire Richt when he did? We have the #1 QB in the country lined up to come and play for Richt and we fire him after a 9 win season just because? It was because Spurrier resigned from USCe and McGarity knew that Smart was #1 on their list. McGarity has had his eye on Kirby for quite some time and knew that he had to pull the trigger. There's a lot more to the story than most know (the Jeremy Pruitt vs Mark Richt incident, etc.). McGarity did the right thing and, IMHO, made an exceptional hire in Smart. Time will tell, but all of the characteristics are there for a successful HC.

In a word, he panicked.

Gehring Dieter former Bowling Green WR who shredded our secondary last year has transferred to Alabama and is eligible to play immediately.

Uuhhmmmm, I kinda meant ones who coached since we put a man on the moon.

First, you have to put limits originally, not after a successful answer.

Two of those did

Way to go dawg
You just confirmed that you are as dim as we thought.

Do you know when the US Astronauts reached the moon's surface?

Seriously though, people will make this a case against men coaching women... But the male brain isn't even fully developed til 25 (supposedly, ask my gf and that's too early) hiring a 23 year old was a poor choice, regardless of his name.

At the same time, respect your wife and none of this is an issue.

I love soccer. And, while it is the most popular sport worldwide, I believe that is because in many countries that love soccer, it's all they have. We in the U.S. Have so many sports to choose from, and even different levels within those sports. Europe, in reality, has soccer, golf, and tennis.

I've been watching the golf channel and everyone they interview, including players and gold personalities from all over the globe, says that the Masters is the most special event in all of sports. And that Augusta National is the most special venue. I've been to the Masters many, many times. But if I hadn't it would be at the top of my bucket list. I guess Wimbleton would be a distant second. Maybe the British Open 3rd.
Never gone too far from the states, have you?

I disagree. The US hasn't lost many soccer games because the other teams had better athletes, it's the difference in actual technical skill. Europeans take youth soccer completely differently than us and it pays off for their national teams. European youth club teams spend way more time practicing, but don't play nearly as many games as American club teams and that's gives them more time to practice fundamentals.
I think that's the point though. Our best athletes are training for football, baseball, or basketball the way Europeans are training for soccer.

If our best athletes were all funneled into soccer and worked at it the way they do other sports, the US would be a soccer powerhouse.

Yep half people that write about it won't point out he is actually not much older than his players. Was odd to hire him so young and unproven. So weird to bang one of your players though.
