Ya, those reasons were his speed, vision, quickness and gaping holes. Not dragging tacklers and running people over.
Jalen Tabor seemed pretty upset on Twitter about ESPN's FPI prediction that UT has a 59% chance to win the east. The following are his tweets from last night:
-"They" picked UT to win the east the last 3 years
-I feel sorry for "they"
-We'll make it 12 years in a row this year ,
-Might as well bring the sheriff out of retirement
-😒 too bad he didn't have any luck against the gators

Byrd is good enough to be a pro at either WR or CB.
I think the coaches did it for 2 reasons: (1) We're super deep at CB and Safety right now. Sutton, Martin, Foreman, Kelly, and Gaulden have the first team locked down. Plus Moseley, Henderson, Osborne, Abernathy, Griffin, and Berry provide awesome depth. Warrior will also be coming in this summer. So all in all we're loaded at DB. (2) However, we're thin at receiver. The only experience we have coming back is Malone, Smith, Preston, and Jauan. Plus the slot receiver position is a weakness right now. Byrd is still good enough to earn playing time on the second team defense as a true freshmen. But the staff must feel he can make a bigger impact for us on offense.
I wanted him at WR this year so this has me excited.

LSU RB Leonard Fournette destroys a Texas A&M defender - YouTube
This is from his freshman year. You obviously don't watch Fournette play a lot. He can shake as well as run through you. And he's fast so he doesn't have to run through as many tackles as Hurd. He runs downhill and by people if he gets the chance.
Lol find one clip where he hit someone, I guess that proves it. I watched over half of the lsu games this year. He was going down very easily and rarely dragged or ran over anyone until the last couple games, and even then it wasn't consistent.
You guys know how LWSVOL is typically VERY conservative and even pessimistic about his predictions for the team?
Thread on VQ right now about the Vols' W/L record in 2016 and taking the over/under at 9.5 wins.
Here's his response:

I'm not sure what games you were watching then.
Yeah, I'm not sure what everyone is looking at. That dude is the best running back I've seen in college since Adrian Peterson.
For those saying he doesn't run over people, neither did Barry Sanders. It looks to me like he does it when needed but doesn't seek it out. I have no problem with that.
