I don't remember Dooleys first year as well, but Jones first year was downright awful. That Oregon game was a travesty. Hard to believe in retrospect that it is even possible for us to have been down 59-7 in the third quarter to anyone. I'd love another crack at those guys. They got the pleasure of playing the two worst teams we've ever fielded.

I'm not sure which was worse, Dooley first year of Butch. Pretty big difference in their 2nd and 3rd years though lol

Dooley had it awful.Fulmer had recruited poorly, and Kiffin ran off around 15 players. It was the equivalent of several years of probation.

That's why I say that Dooley absolutely deserved a third year to prove himself (year two was injury riddled). Year three confirmed workout a doubt, he had to go.

Dooley had some athletes spread out across both the offense and defense. They were sparse but there were a few.

That 2013 team was really bad. You had a first year starting QB in Worley (while 2014 was improved, he was awful and was pulled week 3 for PETERMAN). Dobbs was forced to play as a true freshman and was a turnover machine. They were throwing the ball to a freshman M. North, a streaky Pig Howard, and...Cody Blanc? Seriously who else played WR that year? Rajion Neal was a middling to below average SEC back, and Marlin Lane ran a 4.7 on his best day.

That defense was also potentially the slowest TN defense ever relative to the competition. The DL was slow and could never get any pressure on the QB with Jacques Smith and Mo Couch habitually underachieving . You had Justin Coleman getting burned right and left, and we had freshman walkons like Devin Swafford getting considerable time on the back end IN SEC PLAY.

The offensive line was good, but what difference does that make when there was no talent around them? (Also many thought they underachieved that year learning a new zone blocking scheme).

Seriously, Butch pulled a miracle winning 5 games playing in the SEC that year.

Lost to Ky with a WR playing QB.

He should have been locked out of the locker room and fired on the sideline

People forget, that for two years, Pig was about the only offensive that we had. We really missed him last year, with our We production so poor

FTR

I'm 100% convinced he sabotaged that third year. Rumors were flying after that Ky game that he wanted to quit but receive his buyout.

Pig is as talented as a lot of WRs playing in the NFL.

I agree with a lot of what you post but I can't roll with you on this. Give me a list of every team's top two receivers and if you say pig is as talented then I'll tell you you're lying. Then add the fact that he'll probably fail a drug test in his career, he's just not worth taking a chance on. Oakland has depth at wr, pig might make the practice squad

I don't disagree with that but he's not the athlete that DaRick Rogers was coming out. The only reason Rogers wasn't drafted was because of his off the field problems. He's now playing in the CFL for the Toronto Argonauts but he would still be in the NFL if not for his character issues.

Pig has some character issues to deal with as well but he's not the athlete that Rogers was coming out of college is my point. Pig could make some team that needs a slot WR but I just don't see it happening for him.

This is almost all true but I think you're selling Neal short. Dude has hung with the Packers the past couple seasons. He may have limitations but he was a solid player for us.

Not like there are only 2 WRs on each team. So what is your point here?

And off the top of my head I can put the Patriots on your list. Amendola and Edelman aren't a pair of ridiculous athletes. Pig is easily in their class as an athlete.

Julian Edleman is a very good athlete. And he is quiker and more explosive than Pig. He would smoke him in the 40,100,or 5k.

He rushed for over 1,000 yards as a QB in college in one season.

Hes played nickel and cornerback with the Patriots.
That requires VERY good athleticism.

Pig is not in the same league as Edlemen from a football talent standpoint..

Am I the only one excited about the Titans picking up Tajae Sharpe? Him and DGB on the field together can be dangerous. And hopefully Hunter will pick up production.

You think Pig wouldn't rush for 1,000 yards at Kent State?

Playing CB and being good at it is completely different. Troy Brown did it too for them during their playoff/Super Bowl run. To act like he's some world beater at WR talent wise is crazy. Pig is talented don't know why our own fans can't see it. Smh lol

FTR: Edelman ran a 4.52 40 so they aren't really separated by much.

Stats last year: 61 catches for 692 yards and 7 TDs.

And the Patriots go vertical if their WRs can go over the top of a defense.

Examples: Randy Moss in the past. Gronk is used to stretch defenses since the WRs are mediocre.

Edelman has had better years than last year but he averages like 10 yards a catch career wise. Pig is totally capable of producing in a system like that.

Da'Rick had first round written all over him talent wise.

Dooley shoulda never been hired. When I heard Tennessee hired a coach from La-Tech with a sub .500 record I went WTF?

The hire was a disaster from the start.

Yes. He isn't getting behind NFL defenses... He could be a solid possession WR though.

A couple of websites I watched said he was the Titans steal of the draft. Also, almost every site I've seen has graded the Titans a B+-A

Didn't Pig run 4.55? Or similar.. That's plenty for a slot, where we should have played him. Pig is shifty and tough after the catch as well. I remember A Todd Mcshay tweet about Pig always showing up on film when he studied North.
