Kyle Phillips 5*

K. Mckenzie 5*

Kongbo/ Tuttle 5*

Barnett top 10 draft pick

Nice front 4 even if KP isn't ready yet. Kongbo has ability to slide inside and out.

3rd and long and late game passing situation package...

Vereen Kongbo Phillips Barnett

Recruiting depends on this game. Kids are waiting. Only so many fancy slogans you can throw out there before people start demanding results.

A loss to Florida this year with this talent would be devastating.

A loss to Florida with this talent is devastating in it's own right let alone what it does to recruiting.

I'm of the mindset that it's highly unlikely we have back to back classes as good as 2014 and 2015. Not saying we won't have more back to back top 5 classes. But those classes have produced so many great players, I don't know if we'll ever be that lucky again. Even Alabama with it's #1 classes year in year out doesn't find 30 quality players in back to back recruiting classes.

If Butch can't win with THIS roster. He'll never win.

Also, Appalachian State is the 6th toughest game on our schedule this year. I would take them straight up to beat UK, Vandy, South Carolina, and Missouri this year.

No. There's still a difference between a roster of 3 star players vs 2 star players.

App State can surprise the occasional power 5 team but they can't consistently beat them.

How's UGA ahead of us????

I'm not a homer. But ill take our QB group over any in the SEC if were just talking about next year. A senior QB with experience that has made huge plays in crunch time. I'll take it

Granted its been more with his legs than arm but I don't care how he wins as long he makes it happen

And j Dobbs is going to bring it this year

I agree that an injury to both starting tackles would be detrimental, but there are only 4 games on the schedule that are possible losses. 8-4 would be a failure.

Agreed. We are as able to overcome an injury as any team in the country. There was a time not that long ago where we only had 1 4star QB on the roster. Now you lose your top QB and you have 3 at that caliber on the bench. I mean we started matt simms for several games

Tuttle is not even close to being back and is not as good as Barnett.

KMac is good but will still just be a sophomore. He is what he is until it shows up on the field. He was a guy who needed to spot play last year.

O'Brien got himself suspended last year and it wouldn't surprise me if it happened again.

We added what we hope is an impact player in Juco Alexis Johnson who is already suspended.

Lots to be concerned about at DT. People can keep drinking the koolaid but DT is not SEC elite level yet. That's the truth.

Yep. This is the biggest concern for the defense, IMO. It's starting to look like Tuttle might not be back to 100% by fall camp. If that's the case, then we're probably gonna have to give guys like Phillips or Kongbo some looks inside at times.

Unless KMac comes out of the gate swinging and plays like a truly elite DT, then DT will be a weakness for us IMO. Teams that want to pound the ball will attack us in the middle and not having DTs who can collapse the pocket will hurt our pass rush.

Interestingly. If you look at last years stats for DT's. KMac has the better stats. Even dividing by two, for twice as many games played KMac's stats are better than Tuttle's. For that matter, KMac's stats were the best of any of the DT's last year I believe.

I'm a big fan of Tuttle's, and think he may/or could be the better of the two....at least for now, but the stats tell a different story.

The only games he recorded no data in were Bama, Ky, and North TX.

Edit: Missed BG. He had no stats in that game either.

I am worried about DT also- it is going to take a near miracle for Tuttle to be able to play come this fall if he can't even put weight on his leg now?! Even if he could return this fall it wouldn't be until after the season starts who knows, he may have to redshirt. I never would have thought his injury would take this long to recover from damn UGA. Hopefully Kongbo comes in and is ready to play day 1 and maybe we get lucky with some good news on Alexis Johnson that would help.

Even when you have the most talent, it is hard to get up and ready to go week in and week out. You will have a couple of games where it seems it is stacked against you and you are moving in slow motion and they are not. A team you should blow out but now you are fighting for your life in the last few minutes.

Think of the USC game last year and how close that was to a loss. Or, when we beat them when North made a crazy catch. That was a top 10 SC team that year. To go undefeated takes some fortune to make it happen. You can win an NC with one loss.

This team like any other will need some good fortune to win it all. They could lose twice and it would still be a great season. No one can predict injuries but great teams with depth will find a way to win. I will reserve judgement till the end of the year but a 10-11 win season after all we have been thru would be very enjoyable. Don't forget where we came from.

Agreed with everything you said! Last years USC E game was what jumped into my head. We clearly had more talent but we lost momentum and they were on a roll until the great play that caused the fumble. Keeping that in mind I would say 9 - 3 is the bottom record I could imagine. Think it will be better personally but one prediction I would bet my last dollar on is that one of the losses will not be Florida.

I'm no D4H nor am I psychic but we will not lose this game!

Tuttle healthy was every bit as good as Barnett was as a freshman. Tuttle was a clear difference maker and dominated at times in games

I think a healthy KP can be own both of those guys level as well. KP is a beast no question about that. As long as he can remain on the field.

Do we lack depth of the DL we CLEARLY do. But the ones we have when healthy are ELITE. Tuttle and Kirkland were the best freshman I've seen on defense for the VOLS in a long time. Barnett is in that group as well.

Maybe we should flip big Charles Mosely back to DT. For some reason I really want to see that guy get some playing time. Not seeing a ton of opportunity for him on the oline.

Terry Beckner had the best stats of any freshmen DT.

Plus stats aren't really how you judge DTs. From the games I watched Tuttle was significantly more disruptive. Especially against Oklahoma and Florida.

Where are you getting this into?

Because I saw him walking around after the spring game with no crutches.

So either he got hurt again or your information is wrong.

Did something else come out about Tuttle or are we just working ourselves into a tizzy because we haven't heard anything new?

I think people are running with the lack of news.

Last I saw him he was moving around fine without crutches or a boot at the spring game over a month ago.

Unless he suffered a setback, he's at least putting weight on the foot right now which is in contrast to the post someone just made about him still not being able to out weight on his foot.

The pessimism concerning Tuttle is due to this thread in which it was reported that Tuttle won't be full go for summer workouts and where another poster claimed to have seen Tuttle last month and he still was not bearing weight on the injured leg.

So either that guy is a liar, Tuttle recently had some procedure or setback or something, or Tuttle is still in a state of controlled or limited weight bearing on his ankle (which would explain him walking around at the Spring game.
