Recruiting depends on this game. Kids are waiting. Only so many fancy slogans you can throw out there before people start demanding results.
A loss to Florida this year with this talent would be devastating.
Also, Appalachian State is the 6th toughest game on our schedule this year. I would take them straight up to beat UK, Vandy, South Carolina, and Missouri this year.
Preseason SEC Quarterback Rankings By Team -
SIAP: These SEC QB rankings are so bad that if I see anything else by Pete Fiutak I won't read it.
How's UGA ahead of us????
I agree that an injury to both starting tackles would be detrimental, but there are only 4 games on the schedule that are possible losses. 8-4 would be a failure.
Tuttle is not even close to being back and is not as good as Barnett.
KMac is good but will still just be a sophomore. He is what he is until it shows up on the field. He was a guy who needed to spot play last year.
O'Brien got himself suspended last year and it wouldn't surprise me if it happened again.
We added what we hope is an impact player in Juco Alexis Johnson who is already suspended.
Lots to be concerned about at DT. People can keep drinking the koolaid but DT is not SEC elite level yet. That's the truth.
Even when you have the most talent, it is hard to get up and ready to go week in and week out. You will have a couple of games where it seems it is stacked against you and you are moving in slow motion and they are not. A team you should blow out but now you are fighting for your life in the last few minutes.
Think of the USC game last year and how close that was to a loss. Or, when we beat them when North made a crazy catch. That was a top 10 SC team that year. To go undefeated takes some fortune to make it happen. You can win an NC with one loss.
This team like any other will need some good fortune to win it all. They could lose twice and it would still be a great season. No one can predict injuries but great teams with depth will find a way to win. I will reserve judgement till the end of the year but a 10-11 win season after all we have been thru would be very enjoyable. Don't forget where we came from.
Tuttle is not even close to being back and is not as good as Barnett.
Tuttle healthy was every bit as good as Barnett was as a freshman. Tuttle was a clear difference maker and dominated at times in games
I think a healthy KP can be own both of those guys level as well. KP is a beast no question about that. As long as he can remain on the field.
Do we lack depth of the DL we CLEARLY do. But the ones we have when healthy are ELITE. Tuttle and Kirkland were the best freshman I've seen on defense for the VOLS in a long time. Barnett is in that group as well.
Interestingly. If you look at last years stats for DT's. KMac has the better stats. Even dividing by two, for twice as many games played KMac's stats are better than Tuttle's. For that matter, KMac's stats were the best of any of the DT's last year I believe.
I'm a big fan of Tuttle's, and think he may/or could be the better of the two....at least for now, but the stats tell a different story.
The only games he recorded no data in were Bama, Ky, and North TX.
Edit: Missed BG. He had no stats in that game either.
I am worried about DT also- it is going to take a near miracle for Tuttle to be able to play come this fall if he can't even put weight on his leg now?! Even if he could return this fall it wouldn't be until after the season starts who knows, he may have to redshirt. I never would have thought his injury would take this long to recover from damn UGA. Hopefully Kongbo comes in and is ready to play day 1 and maybe we get lucky with some good news on Alexis Johnson that would help.
Did something else come out about Tuttle or are we just working ourselves into a tizzy because we haven't heard anything new?
