Was there any concern with the VQ guys on Kongbo getting in grades or other? Everyone is needed but he is especially needed for this class.

Expectations are way too high on a guy that's only played for 3 years and raw on fundamentals. Phenomenal athlete but probably won't contribute much until later in the season.

Ya I'd be surprised if he plays many significant minutes this year.

"We've all been checking in with recruits and making sure things were going as planned.

The Vols have been superb under Butch Jones with getting their signed players enrolled, etc., but it appears that Corey Henderson, per multiple folks that Brent, Paul & I have spoken with, will not make it in right now and may pursue the junior college route."

- John Brice

A numbers casualty?

It's being mentioned he might be heading to Oklahoma. Perhaps we pulled the plug

Such a joke. Eason may end up being the best ever, but for now he's a freshman with zero SEC experience. Can't wait until Shoop's D destroys the freshman.

We are going to blitz the everloving shiz out of him and he couldn't even pick it up during the spring game. And yes, I know I'm late to the party.

I'm reading all the worries about the Title IX suit and shaking my head. The one thing we don't have to worry about is high schoolers freaking at something like that. I realize that folks are worried and want our in-state guys and want them yesterday but let's be real - Clemson is coming off a natty appearance and we're coming off not having a single NFL draft pick in 2 years.

Negative recruiting is not new. It's been around for over 100 years but recruits are pretty wise to that. Recruiting is about relationships (put Jones in front of someone's Momma and he'll win them over) and feeling like you can win. UT will prove it on the field this season and recruits will jump at it. Hell some will probably jump sooner but keep in mind we're going after big fish this year. Freaking out in May is absurd!

Oh and the thing about the Title IX lawsuit is that the accusation is about our process that gives legal representation to the accused which is exactly the way it should be! Ironically, the University of Texas is being sued for the opposite reason.

IOW, relax. Butch got this.

I want to talk about Dillon Bates. I had such high expectations for him as a freshman. I felt as sure about him as any recruit in that 14 class. He was also one of if not the first freshman to hit the field in that class. He came in and played against Utah State.

I hope he's been in the background developing. hes got the talent and the bloodlines. It's similar with Elliot Berry. You feel like he's going to make his mark here eventually. It's just a matter of when he gets that opportunity. It's just destiny.

Not everyone pans out... This is a big year for him though.

I thought the scuttlebutt on bates was that he was really making a mark in practice but the injuries keep setting him back. When/if he gets healthy, I think folks believe he will be a meaningful contributor.

I still can't comprehend how he missed that blocked punt in the northwestern game.

Unfortunately, yes, unless we somehow got him to only sign financial aid papers and not a LOI. If you sign a LOI, you count whether you make it in or not.

I thought that he actually had to enroll to count. He definitely does not count against the total 85.
