Vq says he is heading to juco presumably because he isn't a qualifier.

The kid himself is telling another site he is heading to OU which could only happen if we cut him loose.

So we will see what the truth is soon

This is not true. Orlando Brown did not qualify academically at UT but qualified at OU. Can't remember if it is SEC or UT academic standards that are higher than OU.

Perhaps this kid fits in that same academic profile that can't get into here but can get into OU.

If so Vq should have been on top of that instead of saying he was heading juco

Another thing to consider is this is the first year of the academic redshirt rule the NCAA put into place

I would blame any coach for letting kid out of his Nli if he fell into that category where they can practice but not play

Another possibility here

Aye God Bruin, I do believe you are a Vols fan, but I also believe you look for situations to poke holes in the coaching staffs integrity every chance you get, whether it makes sense or not.

Chill.

Maybe he was heading to JUCO until he found out he could get in at another power 5 program with lower academic standards. Butch probably wanted to place him, and get him back in 2 years.

I see and respect your patch and give you my father's.

All reasonable possibilities but he wouldn't have had to have been released from his nli if that was the case

Who ever said he was released? Even if he goes to OU because he didn't qualify for admission to TN, maybe Butch released him so he didn't have to waste 2 years of his career in JUCO. I'm sorry if that doesn't fit into your agenda to slam Butch and make him look like the bad guy in these type of situations.

Rather than bothering us about these concerns, I think Bruin should have Dave Hart and Coach Jones on speed dial. Just call them up and tell them what's wrong. If they don't answer, write them a letter. If they ignore that, try and schedule an appointment with them. It seems like wasted energy to argue about it on this board, especially since Bruin feels so passionately about this stuff.

Depends on what the truth is

If he didn't qualify that's on him and he will end up at a juco.

If he ends up at another D1 we clearly cut him due to numbers and that will look very very negatively on cbj.

Let's wait and see what happens

Never disappoint.

I got it. BRUIN IS FCPF. Be a good boy in public but give them heck on VN.

Probably both.
Oklahoma is a fallback plan for any Texas kid who cannot qualify for a Texas school...

Bob Stoops is an advocate of the Saban Rule of Infinite Chances:

"Are these guys better off with us with the structure and the direction they're gonna get and the opportunities that they can take advantage of and be somebody that other people can emulate or are we better off throwing 'em out with the bath water, so they can shoot people with stolen guns while high on weed that we have no idea how they paid for... and we don't even wanna know, aiight, since it was probably with their stash of ill-gotten booster bucks. Amiight?"

I've got Bruin on ignore, but from half the conversation I could see, was he really saying we cut a kid at a position of need AFTER we wasted an LOI on him?

Yeah, I remember there was a kid last year that couldn't get into Texas after he signed with them and he wanted to be released to go to OU. Apparently anyone can get in there.

I don't agree with Bruin that the kid going to Oklahoma, if that even happens, means that we cut him because he can't play or he's a number casualty.

However, I don't think it's as far fetched as some are saying. It's not like we signed a full class last year. No LOI was really wasted since we have 4 left. Back counting is way less important now that the roster is SEC level and we won't need to sign 40 kids kn a class again.

Seems to me that there is about a 0% chance we ever find out for sure what happened so I'm not gonna lose sleep over it.

There's a 0% chance we dropped a kid for anything other than grades/crime after he signed an LOI. That's one less kid we can sign next year, which is ALWAYS important, no matter how good your roster is.
