Here are my thoughts on Butch, and CZA.
Last year, WR production was bad. In fact, it has been subpar for a couple of seasons. On top of that, the WR's reportedly did not like the coaching they were receiving, complained to Butch, and may have threatened to transfer.
Butch was fed up, and decided to take a "hands on" approach, by working directly with the WR's more. He preaches a "family" atmosphere within the program and with his staff as well. I think he values what CZA brings to the table in other areas besides his position group coaching.
Butch takes this opportunity to not only improve the unit, via his direct interaction, but to coach his own coach, investing in him, and helping him to improve his craft. In fact, good coaches improve their staff, not just by firing and hiring, but by improving the existing parts. Butch is not looking to "Make CZA look good, and cut bait" or just simply fire him, but he is working with him, and demonstrating exactly how he expects things to be done.
WR production will go up. WR's will be happy because they have numbers. WR's will see production and want to come to WRU because of what they see, and the quality WR coach we have in place.
Now everyone to Calhouns. Ribs are on CrunchyLeb
