I'm somewhat surprised this hasn't been discussed a little more. Very interesting. I wonder how accurate this simulation is.

Their projected yards for us was spot on. Pretty good projection altogether.

One quarter of the way through the season, here are my top four players that have impressed me and disappointed me (relative to my preseason hyped up expectations). This isn't a negavol post, just a discussion. Curious others views here:

Impressed:

Josh Malone - he has an outside shot at 1,000 yards - I thought P Williams would surpass him as our go to guy

Danny O'Brien - he has been dominant at times - I thought he'd simply be a nice rotational player

Shy Tuttle - I didn't think he'd be back this soon and be so explosive - I can see why some say he's our best defensive player

Abernathy - I was puzzled when he won the starting job at safety but he looks like a Sunday talent so far

Disappointed:

Offensive line - I remain baffled by how bad they are - I thought with all the returning experience, we might have a top 3-4 OL in the SEC. Drew Richmond and Coleman Thomas both have significantly underwhelmed. This is the number one disappointment for me.

Rashaan Gaulden - I put this as a mild disappointment relative to my expectations - He's played very solid, but I thought he'd flash early and often as a difference maker given all the hype around him (still more to come here I'm sure)

Hurd - I appreciate him and think he brings a ton to the table - but so far he looks like the same player as last year - a very good player, but not quite the all world game changing talent I keep wanting him to be - the OL deserves some of the blame here

Justin Martin - I thought he would rival and maybe even surpass Cam Sutton as our best corner - looks to my untrained eye like he has the physical tools but something's missing

Dobbs honestly is playing to my expectations as are most of the rest of the players. I'm happy we are 3-0 and I think we have a great shot at taking down UF despite the injuries. So glad to be in this spot relative to where we've been the past decade or more after three games into a season.

I have looked through other threads and haven't been able to get any info on Sapp-- could someone give me a quick update? Sounds like JRM will be available for FL, so he should just rest and live in the rehab room all week.
With Cam, Kirkland, and probably Hall and Sapp out, everyone else on D must have a good practice this week. Especially Moseley... sheesh.

Haha. This is so ironic. Sumlin was on the hot seat to start the year.

I never understand how every other team is so much better, and regardless of outcome, we just suck.

agree, but mainly talking about assistant/position coaches... which we clearly are lacking in certain areas.

Brice or Hubbs said they are gonna push Hall to see if he can go.

Doesn't matter if they watched or not. They have to continue to feed the golden boy hype with Eason and Smart.

You ain't lyin. Not gonna lie, I was wondering how they just jumped 4 spots. Has anybody not watched them? Horrendous OLine, defense getting torched, no pass rush. They are gonna get smacked down in Oxford IMO. The hype for Eason is unlike anything I've seen in a long, long time

They can not run the ball which is surprising

I see why Saban processes guys out now. No excuse for our MLBs not to have surpassed Jumper. If they don't want to learn plays this isn't the place for them. Education isn't free you've got to play good football for it. That's part of the terms of the scholarship.

I had a friend over during the game yesterday and didn't really watch too carefully.

Did the OL look any better with the different lineup?

And how did Buchanan look after he got settled in? I know he's no Cam, but will be a huge liability for us moving forward?

Buchanan looks like a player to me. Even with him in they were attacking Moseley.

Tackle is a problem. Need Hall back yesterday.
