At 70k per year he has to work 6.5-7 years to equal what he would do as a ROOKIE making the minimum of 435K a year. Finishing school is one thing but securing your future is another. He could easily start a business or buy a home and be debt free.

I get your point and generally don't disagree, but this part of your post is a little off. After tax and agent, that $435k is looking a lot more like $200k, especially when you add in even just a little bit of an NFL lifestyle. That $70k is still north of $50k after taxes.

Also, he couldn't "easily start a business or buy a home and be debt free"--not even close--after a year (or even a couple/few years, unless he's buying a really cheap house) at league minimum. (I'm assuming he'd be buying a house in a reasonably nice neighborhood in an NFL city.)

Finally, these discussions always involve people assuming that all these players were going to go get drafted, etc. Cam had way more information about his prospects than we do, and he presumably thought it was the best decision for him to come back (for whatever combination of reasons).

So much this. For me, a degree meant so much more than it did for most. My mom never went to college and my dad never finished college (he died trying to get his college degree as he had re-enrolled after his service in Nam) so for me to get a college degree and then to go beyond just a BA was one of the proudest moments in my life.

While no degree can make you instantly successful, for many, it's a point of pride and achievement.

The opinions of folks around regarding money are always interesting to me. Whether it's with regard to a player or a coach, I think you always learn something about someone's values when they speak about money. Over my 30 years in the business world I've been blessed with some degree of financial success, and there is a radical difference between how I saw the problem at 22 and how I see it at 52. I think Mr. Sutton shows maturity beyond his years. He will do well in life regardless of how his NFL career goes.

That degree talk is BS. Your degree will NEVER get you a job making the money pro athletes make. You being an entrepreneur and being very successful might but a degree won't do a thing like that.

I think it was as much as trying to improve draft stock after he got his draft eval to be able to make more money.

They're not. It's going to be a 9-6 type game.

I think so too & I also think it has to be low scoring for us to win.

Vols up to 12 in coaches poll

Can't believe we moved up. That's crazy after we dropped in the polls after sliding by App State.

Polls are so stupid lol

Didn't we move down after beating VT? Now we move up 3 spots after that ****show we put on yesterday? I understand that some teams in front of us lost, but cmon.

Agree with you 100%.

I saw on Friday that WhatifSports simulated our game with Ohio something like 10k times (they do this with all games I think). We won 70% of the time and the average score differential was 11 points.
I'm somewhat surprised this hasn't been discussed a little more. Very interesting. I wonder how accurate this simulation is.

Titans made it happen in the 4th quarter. D held it close along with a million penalties in the game. Then Murray and Mariotta went to work along with an incredible Andre Johnson catch for the last TD. Cox intercepts Stafford for the W. Titans win 16-15.

Maggitt get any playing time last week for the Colts? Flipped on the game today, didn't know if they used him situationally at all.
