Recruiting is different this year. CBJ has become a national laughingstock and it has been widely reported-- and not once denied-- that he is looking anywhere and everywhere for another HC job. Recruits read the headlines and watch ESPN/SECN. They know UT failed to meet even lowered expectations, hear that there will be coaching turnover and wonder if the HC is going to bolt for the next job that opens up and will pay his buyout. It will be tough sledding signing some of these recruits.
several days ago people were so frustrated with the loss, Butch, and the season in general that it was explained, the only way to fix or change things is to stop $$ supporting UT football... As long as everyone continues to go to games and particularly the bowl game, why would the Admin want to do anything different? If you want to get their attention, DON'T go to the bowl game... that would speak volumes.
Yep, he may have sealed his fate by openly shopping himself around. I predict it will be tough to attract high level assistants to replace the ones that are let go or leave on their own. It's starting to mirror Dooley's post KY loss scenario.
First year with a new scheme and DC, takes time for the players to acclimate. Throw in that all of the defensive coaches had to learn it too. Then throw in that except for Barnett , every other important defensive player and often their primary backup was injured for a significant portion of the season. It is definitely a recipe for disaster. I think that given everything that the defense went through, it is a wonder that 8 games were won.
Yes he spent a ton of time with the AA ans All SEC players as they would in turn teach the backups...Having to also teach all the coaches makes it doubly tough. Shoop may have been the only one to see a missed concept.
Then the truly offensive prima donnas of jalen hurd and preston williams working only for themselves even to the detriment of the entire team. The OL merry go round was tough too. Trying to play key players hurt may have been the biggest faux pas. But everything can be part of the learning curve.
CBJ has taken so many positive steps forward.
Unfortunately, so many can only see the step back.
Legion is as Legion does.
The way this has been handled since the Vandy game has been damaging. Neither CBJ nor UT have been remotely supportive of one another. The silence speaks volumes. When all the Fisher to LSU talk started, both FSU and Fisher were quick with denials to reassure recruits. Even if CBJ stays for another year, recruits will wonder about the next year-- and for good reason.

Since butch has been shopping himself around let's ponder this then.... let's say butch goes 9-3 and wins the east next year does he leave if another job that interests him opens or since that would quiet the media and the fans does he stay

Here we go making **** up again. Someone please tell me how on earth we can say Butch has openly been shopping himself around?
No idea why we need to make lies up to criticize butch for.
