Recruiting is different this year. CBJ has become a national laughingstock and it has been widely reported-- and not once denied-- that he is looking anywhere and everywhere for another HC job. Recruits read the headlines and watch ESPN/SECN. They know UT failed to meet even lowered expectations, hear that there will be coaching turnover and wonder if the HC is going to bolt for the next job that opens up and will pay his buyout. It will be tough sledding signing some of these recruits.

Tell the dude he should know you got to go for two after the third overtime period. Another missed opportunity to improve his football IQ.

Not much is lost on this guy.

Also, tell dude his magic sunglasses don't work and that I can read his posts.

Anyone watching Thursday night football? The Vikings helmets and jerseys are different colors.

When they zoom in it's like a purple helmet on a blue jersey.

Yep, he may have sealed his fate by openly shopping himself around. I predict it will be tough to attract high level assistants to replace the ones that are let go or leave on their own. It's starting to mirror Dooley's post KY loss scenario.

Since butch has been shopping himself around let's ponder this then.... let's say butch goes 9-3 and wins the east next year does he leave if another job that interests him opens or since that would quiet the media and the fans does he stay

several days ago people were so frustrated with the loss, Butch, and the season in general that it was explained, the only way to fix or change things is to stop $$ supporting UT football... As long as everyone continues to go to games and particularly the bowl game, why would the Admin want to do anything different? If you want to get their attention, DON'T go to the bowl game... that would speak volumes.

They're will be 80+ young Vols playing/hoping to play the great game of football for Tennessee. I will be there for them even if I don't like the coach (and I do - like the coach).

Don't be miserable folks.

Sad for you.

Be a Sunshine Pumper of Life, or, maybe continue on your road of meaningless despair.

Your choice...

The way this has been handled since the Vandy game has been damaging. Neither CBJ nor UT have been remotely supportive of one another. The silence speaks volumes. When all the Fisher to LSU talk started, both FSU and Fisher were quick with denials to reassure recruits. Even if CBJ stays for another year, recruits will wonder about the next year-- and for good reason.

Not sure it is despair. Feels more like a harsh reality. We were riding the hype train, and now that train is pulling into the station. Time to disembark.

First year with a new scheme and DC, takes time for the players to acclimate. Throw in that all of the defensive coaches had to learn it too. Then throw in that except for Barnett , every other important defensive player and often their primary backup was injured for a significant portion of the season. It is definitely a recipe for disaster. I think that given everything that the defense went through, it is a wonder that 8 games were won.

Yes he spent a ton of time with the AA ans All SEC players as they would in turn teach the backups...Having to also teach all the coaches makes it doubly tough. Shoop may have been the only one to see a missed concept.

Then the truly offensive prima donnas of jalen hurd and preston williams working only for themselves even to the detriment of the entire team. The OL merry go round was tough too. Trying to play key players hurt may have been the biggest faux pas. But everything can be part of the learning curve.

CBJ has taken so many positive steps forward.
Unfortunately, so many can only see the step back.
Legion is as Legion does.

Well said Doc :hi:

This is kind of funny because I heard radio guys last week saying that Fisher's comments when asked about LSU were far from a denial.

Here we go making **** up again. Someone please tell me how on earth we can say Butch has openly been shopping himself around?

No idea why we need to make lies up to criticize butch for.

I think it will depend on the roster. We likely lose Jennings next year and Tuttle. Does Kelly come out if he has a big year? If recruiting tanks this year and doesn't look better next year, I would say he'd see the writing on the wall and cash out.

Why on earth should either say a word?

He'd probably love his job if he wins the East. Fans will be mostly back on board, especially if he has a chance to win the SECC (doubtful). Though, if he loses to Florida early, it won't be fun at the beginning of the season. I don't even want to imagine what it will be like if we manage to lose to GT.

How do you think the guys at VQ got the info? Everybody but you evidently knew what was going on. If you would get your head out of your a$$ you might be able to see. He or his agent leaked it. They were the only two who would have known. He was mad because he felt like he wasn't appreciated for his accomplishments and he wanted to make it known he could leave. Well it back fired on him because no one wanted him. Now he's got many fans questioning his loyalty. He's got recruits questioning about everything and he's given opposing coaches more ammunition to use against him. If you don't see it that's on you.

Y'all should keep an eye on the Kevin wilson stuff at Indiana and

1. Realize it could happen here in a second if some people got pissed enough

And

2. Realize Butch's similar rep behind the scenes is hurting recruiting

People usually believe what LWS says. "Openly" is not very accurate though.
