James Franklin is proof that what Butch has supposedly "done" here can be done much quicker and with better results.

Until last night, James Franklin had beaten one ranked team at Penn State in 3 years.

Dooley made us a joke. Butch has made us ranked in each of our last two seasons. Parents of recruits and players liked Butch's statement about champions of life because it deflected from their poor performance and put the heat on him.

I wish some of you soft skinned fans would put yourselves in a timeout. It's really getting pathetic.

He can look all he wants... the fact is nobody wants him.

He conned Hart when he made him think Michigan wanted him... and now the Purdue thing... Somehow I think Hart is gonna fall for it again.

We have a coach that freakin Purdue doesn't want.

I know some like to wallow in misery. But, almost this exact same comment has been made a thosand times. Can't wait to get back to talking about recruits and the bowl game.

I don't know but a Tenn (8-4) v. Nebraska (9-3) seems to me to be a good bowl season match-up after a disappointing regular season. Take the practice time, count one's blessings, play to win.

Yep! Interesting too that they are ranked in the AP poll but not the college football playoff poll, but the opposite is true for us.

If we can win this one big, maybe we can convince AP voters to rank us in the final poll again. Would be the first time since 2006/2007 that we finished ranked for two consecutive seasons.

What is really sad is that we haven't finished a season ranked in three consecutive seasons since 1997- 1999.

We actually finished ranked from 1989 - 1999, which at 11 straight years was far and away the longest such stretch in program history. Next longest was eight, which we've done twice (67-74; 38-45). Apart from those streaks, our times finishing seasons ranked are pretty spread out. So, we can at least celebrate that.

Not sure you can say he got snubbed. I am just saying that it's not as rosy as you suggest. Until beating OSU this year, he has beaten no one. Butch did beat a top 10 USC team (coaches poll) with a bad roster. Without a fumble at the pylon or a controversial spot review, and Butch makes 4 straight bowls. Yes, this year is disappointing. I get it, but nothing is changing right now.

I will feel better for sure. Need to see who the AD is, who the new coaches are, and how we finish in recruiting before I started to truly have some hope again. But honestly, Butch needs to win me back on the field next fall before I'm truly feeling good again.

Nebraska is definitely better than those teams IMO. Luckily butch seems to show up in bowl games.

Probably already are. Most bowls already have tickets available from their websites before the actual matchups even get announced.
