Depends on when. If it is a couple of years from now, and his offenses are still doing well at USC- they improved throughout the year, I think he would be a quality candidate. If it's within the next 365 or so days though, I think he'd be a little down the list.

I think he has major potential though.

He isn't a guy like Peyton that we'd be afraid to fire either imo.

Agree with all the point on Malone, otoh, there's always the chance of going undrafted too, where is Marquez North these days? Not compring the production of the two by any means, just a thought.
I think we all know DB will be gone and should be, unless he just loves Tennessee that much and wants to play another year, he gone!
AK, he would put up insane numbers next year if he came back, but like DB, nothing really to prove unless he just loves playing for the Vols that much. We shall see.

CPF was a first time HC and that turned out OK. A strong AD is essential to success as CPF relied on Dickey for counsel during his formative years.

Different era, different expectations and different SEC. You basically have 3 years to put up or shut up in a common fans and media eyes. It's a recipe for failure at a TN/GA/FL type. Muschamp is much better at SC than FLa because of the experience at Florida. Look what happened at UGA under first year Smart. He made several rookie mistakes on a team Richt would have won 9-10 games with.

First time HCs have to go to a place where fans, media and AD will be patient with them like KY and Vandy are with Stoops and Mason.

Ironic that if you were putting props on what former UT QB would end up as HC at UT one day, Peyton would probably be third at best behind Tee and JBC. Still wouldn't put money on any of them though.

I would not want to hire Peyton. Sure, he might be great. But what if he wasn't? What if he was a terrible head coach? You can't fire Peyton Manning at Tn. That would be an awful situation

No I agree. There was a time about ten or so years ago- when his NFL career was no longer so new that people began talking about what comes next, that a lot of Vols fans thought it was a matter of when, not if. I think then it started to become apparent that he would have bigger opportunities.

He is the best ambassador ever for UT. I would not want to complicate that.

With Malone possibly entering the NFL draft this year
I think Brandon Johnson will be scary good as the #1 WR next year. Kid has a good catch radius and plays with like a #1 WR. Him and Jennings on the outside well be one of the better units in the SEC.

Yep. If JG is as good as advertised I don't think it's crazy to think that we could be as good on paper next year as we was this year. If Shoop can get our D straightened out then 10 wins isn't out of the question. IMO

All about defense imo. If JG is good, our offense will be fine. Even if JG isn't quite elite yet, with the running game we'll have we should be great on offense.

Definitely. I'd put our floor around 8 wins, maybe 7 if things don't go our way. Veteran team around the board, 2nd year under a good coordinator, hopefully some good S&C and positional changes. Very much in play for the east.

Tee isn't going to get some big power 5 HC job as his first shot. It will be at a mid major/group 5 or some stepping stone job. There will be time. Everything works out for a reason.

Well stated. I was hoping to see him take that GA State job and see what he could do there.

I'd be all for that. It's tough though because it looks like the majority of Clemson's offensive staff played at Clemson. May not want to move.

Marion Hobby has done an excellent job as DE coach at Clemson. He would be a great replacement for Stripling. He was good as DC at Duke too.

Hard for me to see much success there with a coach without major Texas connections.

I have a feeling that Baylor is about to experience regression to the mean.

I agree. It looks like the furthest west he has been is Buffalo minus one year at UCLA. Good coach, but odd fit.

Agreed. Florida loses a ton and the recruiting hasn't been the best to replace it. I don't think there will be much of a drop off for us. Not as much as some think anyways. But pretty much every other east team should be improved. I look for Mizzou to light up the scoreboard next year
