The way I understand it your statement is correct. It is not where the team finishes but where they are ranked at the time you actually play them. The way stats are these days and with all the computers being used to track everything, the other way makes as much since, and somebody somewhere probably has that data.

The best source for any sort of ranking/ h2h matchup is Phil Steele. He takes EVERYTHING into account.

Such as Butch not taking responsibility for the underachievement?

Kind of like his statement yesterday that the third season was the stage of learning how to win. Then there is the next stage of learning they are going to get everybody's best shot. After that there will be another stage to explain why the fell short to go with some different terminology. That's Butch speak to deflect for under achievement that drives many fans crazy. That creates more disunity in the fan base and media, not less.

As an example in recent pages there are comments about TKJr. gaining too much weight to be effective - move him to LB. So the pack jumps on that. Doesn't matter that it is not true and he is the best centerfielder they have that reads run support well. Just like Kirkland, he sustained significant injuries early in camp, especially to his knee. Probably should have redshirted or sat half the season if the truth were actually told. He was being trained to play safety a certain way by the new DC. That plan did not work out. Pointed it out many times. Did no good to bother.

That was my point to LAVol. He has contacts as I do. He and a few others on here are trying to bring some reality to the forum. Guess not, huh?

Rivera, any lineman, Patterson, we've had a few recently really. But it depends where "young" stops at.

True with CP. He and Rivera are really the only 2 I can think of besides Maggitt getting a little run here of late. Coleman with the Pats I guess.

Stocker in TB has been playing a little bit too. James in Miami. Hunter in Buffalo has had a little resurgence from the depths lol

Guess there are more than I thought now that I'm really thinking about it.

Patterson has started contributing, looks like he's finally getting the hang of doing more than returns and jet sweeps.

Zimmer had them adapt the passing O to do what CP did well under Chaney, especially since he had to go with Bradford at QB and give him quicker routes.

Strange. I didn't think it was permitted to modify your scheme/system to fit your talent.

My point is, for giving credit for the significance of a win, beating the preseason #1 team deserves no credit if that team goes on to lose every single game. And beating an unranked team deserves a lot of credit if that team finishes the year with 1 loss and ranked in the top 10.

What they're ranked at the time you play them is 100% irrelevant.

Well, I wouldn't say it is always irrelevant. In the circumstance you gave above it most definitely would be. If someone slipped from one or two to ten though, they would still be a top ten team. That is more what I was thinking of.

Originally, I was just simply asking the question about how many Peterman won. Everyone has a different opinion, but a few weeks ago, people were pissed about the stat that ESPN put up about us being 0-26 against top 10 teams. More things to complain about. So, if you use your logic, that is not the case. Whatever stat fits the narrative.

But but butch made a comment about players like this and we need to make fun of him for it

Yeah. It is better when players like Aaron Hernandez represent your school. Nobody wants somebody like Curt Maggitt to look too. Jeez. Changing a lady's tire! What were you thinking Curt!

Mostly liked a mute point, but us anyone heard what AK, DB, Malone, and any other undergrad plan to do as far as declaring?

What is a mute point?

The prospect of replacing up to 5 assistant coaches scares me. I know changes need to be made but at that point I think you risk having no continuity and having too many different voices/egos.

Would like to see Mahoney, Martinez git at minimum. We need to do all we can to steal some assistants from Clemson. Need to close strong on Tee Higgins and Amari.

So you are saying hire Jeff Scott as Co-OC?

That's why Shoop needs to be in charge. Let him hire guys he is comfortable with

I agree with you that SC was a top 10 win for Butch, regardless of where they were ranked when we played them. And PSU Clemson were top 10 wins for Pitt. However they finish the year is all that matters.

AK and DB will declare.

I'd put Malone at 50/50 right now

Malone is in an interesting spot. He had a good year. I think he will test well, but would it be enough to get him in the top 3 rounds? The WR class coming out isn't that deep, but I'm not sure he's shown the consistency on the field to get in those higher rounds. On the other hand, the QB that favored him is leaving, and the QB next year is a big question mark for him in regards to production.
