That's weird.
I wonder how many guys turned down Baylor 1st?

Not sure but apparently he turned down Oregon before taking Baylor. I don't get it. Why not wait and see if Notre Dame opens up. That was the spot for him. Now go to TX where you have no recruiting experience

Sooo...OL class looks really good now. But DT is looking..meh at best since the Gaddys going bye bye. Crosby and Bennett are nice pickups..but we really need a thumper in this class.

We definitely need another DT and DE. 2018 instate DL is looking outstanding! If we land Litaker, Emerson and the others, we'll be in good shape

DT recruiting is really perplexing. We didn't take a HS DT last year. You would think with the rash of injuries we had that would be a focus. Now after the Gaddy bros bounced we only have two committed. You would think we would have some lined up if we told the Gaddys to look elsewhere, but I'd doesn't look like we have a lot of options.

JMO.

High character guy who was raised an evangelical Christian as his father is a senior pastor in the Nazarene Church. His father and uncle were also HS football coaches. I know Marcus Satterfield has a lot of respect for him and Marcus is good people.

Baylor being the largest southern Baptist university in the country and IIRC the world, provides a national recruiting base along with Texas. They are obviously trying to get their own values corrected after the Briles mess. So the intangibles matched up.

I see Baylor as a better match for him than Oregon based on all that. A tough, smart, hard worker that may bring the best D that conference has seen in years.

They are not letting any info out if they do, that's for sure. I know they moved Butcher inside and are beefing him up, but he's not done a thing yet.

Puzzling.

They tried really hard to get Brown (I think that was his name) but missed. I wish they would've had someone tho, even a lower ranked guy, just for depth. If they add Butler that's three in this class but I agree, wouldn't mind 4. Next years DL class is outstanding in state if Butch gets them all

This is how we did it in the 90's. Recruit all sized DE's and make DT's out of some of them.

The crazy thing is around the South Carolina game Butcher was mentioned as someone we might see play DT and he has not played at all from what I have seen. Butcher already redshirted last year, so they cannot be saving his redshirt.

I agree it works well with some. Malik Jackson is a great example in recent times. Those that can't pull it off as well tend to still be good as passing down specialists.

Bennet could be a Malik J type. But he is going to have to do son serious bulking up. IIRC he is in the 260ish range unless he has added some weight since then. If he has got a motor like his dad...oh yeah. I'm really surprised Bama didn't push for him. He is in that DE end size range they like.
