You can't look at the results on the field and conclude there's anything BUT serious problems, so I'm not sure why that article is getting so much heat here.
So apparently there's talk on 247 (John Brice) that Butch might be bringing in Helfrich for OC or Co/OC, Brady Hoke for DL coach and Terry Fair to coach DB's. Doubt it happens but that would be interesting.
I'm level-headed enough to see that there's some truth in the article, but also enough to see the intent. This article has been in the works for a while but was conveniently dropped at a time when the program had finally picked up some good news.
If Butch is trying to make that happen, then he is back to wanting a statue in the entrance. Maybe he has decided to go all in again, and try to build a lasting legacy, instead of looking for a easy way out cause his feelings are hurt at us for being pissed off.
No question it was an agenda piece, but there's a lot of truth in it. There are clearly internal issues that need to be addressed. Daniel Hood graduated in 2013; most of the issues started after he graduated and escalated this year, so his opinion doesn't relate to what happened in 2016.
The core of the piece is on point-- there is a cloud of negativity surrounding the program right now and many question CBJ's future and fit at UT-- but a stellar AD hire, a top recruiting class and some staff upgrades can start things trending positive again.
It is sooo hilarious watching posters pissed off about that story for saying the same thing that they themselves were saying last week.
If you can't get enough people to go on the record and agree to be named or identified in your story, you keep digging until you find some who will or you drop the story altogether. Because using a bunch of unnamed sources isn't reporting, it's gossip.
