Rucker on twitter defending this to no end. He's probably laughing on the Bama board right now. We're all frustrated with Butch. But the timing of this article was horrible. The week following Vandy it wouldn't have looked as bad. But the day after we land Trey Smith? That isn't an accident imo

At least it wasn't the day of

People are ripping the Vol247 mods and Haney. One thread started is instructions on how to cancel your membership lol.

Also, Brice did say there is fire to the Helfrich talk. He said people in the program have mentioned it. The Hoke talk is real. There has been communication between Fair and UT as well.

I think the timing totally works in our favor-- sandwiched between commitments. I don't see the story as a big deal in the first place. It's just a compilation of negative things people have been saying for weeks. Old news.

There's no substance to the story so it will die fast. I'm sure the rival fans who clicked it and hoped to get a scoop on Butch's massive failures as a coach were disappointed.

"The team underachieved, Butch is kinda insecure, he's mostly a great guy, he made a bad decision with his strength coach, some players are unhappy, but he can still win if he makes changes"

Looks like an piece that goes out and gets comments in order to justify what you want to write.

Stories should always get all the facts, quotes, etc and let those write the story. Be driven by the truth, not what you want the truth to be.

That being said, there is some truth mixed into that article more than likely.

I'm level-headed enough to see that there's some truth in the article, but also enough to see the intent. This article has been in the works for a while but was conveniently dropped at a time when the program had finally picked up some good news.
Agree but am I the only one that read that and felt optimistic? The end of the article talked about how Blackburn will come in and help butch and that we're bringing in some new assistants that will help out with the mindset of the program (starting in the strength and conditioning department).

The optimistic thing is that the program is in excellent shape if Travis Haney actually camped out in Knoxville for a few days hoping to land a scoop or interviewed plenty of people connected to the program who have axes to grind. Because that's about the mildest "expose" on a supposedly troubled program I've ever read.

It's still a hit piece for sure, but that's mostly because of the hyperbolic headline. Which is quite likely not Travis's fault.

It is unreal what is allowed to be published this day and age. This article would have never made it to editing 10 to 15 years ago.

Lot's of space to fill on them interwebs! No time to fact check or proof read these days. Fill up the space whatever it takes.

Where is the 247 sports article about aTm, Auburn, Arkansas, UCLA and many others? Where is the hit piece on their coaches? Sumlin has loads of talent but I haven't read the hit piece on his culture at aTm? What is wrong with these people. Thanks for hurting our recruiting 247. Glad you're losing business over this
