Not sure how the article was harmful to UT. Looks to me like the angry, pitchfork-toting mob that was about to burn Butch's house down just did a 180 and walked across town to the Haney residence.
A lot of what was said in that article lines up 100% with what we all saw this season. We got pushed around by Appalachian State and had to scrape out a win against Ohio. We saw the uncharacteristic turnovers, lack of discipline, penalties, not showing up for games, injuries. We haven't seen any of that except injuries in Butch Jones teams. All of that is explained if you assume that parts of that article are true.
In a roundabout way, it gives me hope. If the problem is really that simple and that recognizable then Butch made a mistake this season that can be corrected if he learns from it. The idea that he's reached his limitations as a coach is faulty, IF he learns from it.
Sucks that it happened in 2016 when we clearly had the talent to have gone 11-1 in the regular season, but if it's true then our problems may not be as bad as they looked a few weeks ago.
