Not sure how the article was harmful to UT. Looks to me like the angry, pitchfork-toting mob that was about to burn Butch's house down just did a 180 and walked across town to the Haney residence.

A lot of what was said in that article lines up 100% with what we all saw this season. We got pushed around by Appalachian State and had to scrape out a win against Ohio. We saw the uncharacteristic turnovers, lack of discipline, penalties, not showing up for games, injuries. We haven't seen any of that except injuries in Butch Jones teams. All of that is explained if you assume that parts of that article are true.

In a roundabout way, it gives me hope. If the problem is really that simple and that recognizable then Butch made a mistake this season that can be corrected if he learns from it. The idea that he's reached his limitations as a coach is faulty, IF he learns from it.

Sucks that it happened in 2016 when we clearly had the talent to have gone 11-1 in the regular season, but if it's true then our problems may not be as bad as they looked a few weeks ago.

Kind of how I felt too. I believe that a lot of the article was spot on, with the exception of a couple points that I felt were exaggerated or wrong. (i.e. the captains quote) In all reality though all of the problems that were mentioned are very fixable. It will take Butch to look in the mirror some and actually make the changes, but IF he does that there is no reason why we don't see an improved team next year in the areas that really hurt us. We will lose a lot of talent and a good core nucleus, but the talent is still there.

Why is it that when one ultra-negavol leaves another takes its place?

You can only nega so long before you need a break. They are on a rotating schedule. It's posted in the break room if you wanna check out when your favorites will be on duty.

Get on up.

I was going to do Living in America, but yours is better.

I really hope this Helfrich talk is really. We need a guy who can really develop JG. He has so much potential. The right QB can lead to championships. See Clemson and Oregon

Fuller lost discipline with the team also after Cut went to Ole Miss....not till he brought Cut back did he regain the locker room. You are only as good as the people you have working with you.

You have to have the guy that is the a-hole in the locker room. you are right, Cut was that guy for Fulmer, he demanded respect and that all players and coaches carry themselves a certain way. Butch needs to be that guy or hire someone who will be that guy and get out of his way.

I've heard Cuttcliffe went off on Fulmer for letting the culture go from what it was in the late 90's when he came back as OC. Also, made Ainge do the little things that Fulmer let him get away with to make him a better QB.

On some discussion of football and recruiting:

Did I see a few days ago a commit said Butch wanted to go more for JUCOs who are ready to play? I think I saw that.

Made me look at the JUCOs we've brought in so far. I don't think we've done a good job with evaluating them nor coaching them up. Of course, it's not 100%, but look at the list:

2013 JUCO signees:

WR Johnathon Johnson - low 3* - 422 career yards in 3 seasons - was a spot player, but was lowly rated - PUSH

TE Woody Quinn - low 3* - did nothing at all - left after 1 season - ugly pickup but was a small class and last minute

CB Riyahd Jones - low 3* - did nothing - blood clots and a rape accusation

2014 JUCO Signees

WR Von Pearson - 4* - 802 yards in 2 seasons - unfortunately missed senior year camp due to false sexual assault allegations - showed promise but played in a bad 2014 offense and good 2015 offense. This is a PUSH.

OT Dontavius Blair - 4* - did nothing but was heralded on this board as a savior even though he sucked - transferred - BUST

LB Chris Weatherd - 4* - athletic freak never hit potential - 21 career tackles, 3.5 sacks - BUST

DT Owen Williams - low 3* - started 12 games and played in 25, 56 tackles and 6.5 TFL - got an UDFA deal with the Falcons - HIT

2015 JUCO Signees

RB Alvin Kamara - 4* - 1,263 rush yards, 637 receiving yards, PR stud, criminally underutilized - HIT but with an asterisk due to usage

CB Justin Martin - 4* - had 23 tackles and 6 PBUs in 2015, but UTsports.com has him playing in only 3 games in 2016 - attitude and effort issues - coaches don't trust him - BUST (with time left to fix it)

2016 JUCO Signees

DL Johnathan Kongbo - 4* - #1 JUCO player - athletic freak - constant distraction - 7 tackles, 1 TFL, 1 INT, 5 QB hurries - this is a PUSH right now (with time to fix it)

DT Alexis Johnson - 4* - #2 JUCO DT - got suspended within like his first 5 hours on campus - played in 1 game for a sneeze - BUST (with time to fix it)

WR Jeff George - high 3* - 1 catch for 20 yards - BUST (with time to fix it)

CB DJ Henderson - mid-to-high 3* - didn't play in one of the worst UT secondary corps in our history - BUST (with time to fix it)

So, I'll say this - as of now with JUCOs being instant impact guys, we have failed miserably. Kamara keeps this from being a complete disaster.

Haney a UT Grad writes irresponsible hit piece on his alma mater using a very negative quote from an unnamed source as its title.

Vandy loving, UT hatin Barton Simmons writes article following day titled "Source:Support remains strong for Butch Jones"

Playing devil's advocate, if you believe Butch is a failure, and you love vandy and vandy beating Tennessee, perhaps you want Butch to stay as long as possible ?
