oh, and why is no one up in arms about this being an unnamed source.

Is Barton a hack?

Is this poor journalism?

This guy doesn't work inside the building, he doesn't need to protect his job. He called to offer his opinion. We don't even know if Barton verified this opinion with others in this circle.

He said they still believed that he can get it done due to his work ethic etc...

Yes, but as a journalist or editor how do you quantify that as "Strong" in a way you can publish that?

That is weak sauce in my opinion.

If they source said that then great, run with it.

But to infer it is not the correct way to approach that.

Surely you can agree with that.

What is very interesting is that no where in that article does it actually say the support for Jones is strong.

Instead he call our fanbase stupid for thinking we can do better than Butch.

And then points out that next year is his time to show everyone if he is it or not.

What is interesting to me is that a day after they wrote a click bait negative article, they wrote a click bait positive article. Both using unnamed sources. It's a joke.

They are a joke.

No one is up in arms because we know exactly what this article is. Have you seen anyone on here praising this article? No. No you haven't. We all think it is as much BS as the last one.

Haney a UT Grad writes irresponsible hit piece on his alma mater using a very negative quote from an unnamed source as its title.

Vandy loving, UT hatin Barton Simmons writes article following day titled "Source:Support remains strong for Butch Jones"

Vandy likes Butch?

Fact is, I believe, things at Tn are not as negative as the article yesterday said they are not are they sunshine and rainbows. Truth is somewhere in the middle. All I know is, our coaches are busting their butts on the recruiting trail right now to bring in top talent. Butch makes the right coaching hires, things could be going right back in a positive direction very soon

Pretty much. I think a big bowl win will help a lot too, just from a mental standpoint. Also hope he let's Shoop and whoever the OC is manage their side of the ball. Maybe let them have some input on position coaches

10-2 SEC East title next fall with losses to Bama and 1 other team are you 100% back on the Butch Wagon? Does he have to build on that in 2018 and win SEC?

What is good enough for everyone?

We are obviously not going to be Bama level anytime soon, so something realistic.

I tend to agree. Other than the headline with the article, the other thing that ticked me off was all of the other "journalists" like Rucker and Stokes laughing at all of the complaints about unnamed sources and claiming that if we knew anything about "journalism" we would know that he could not name his sources and that should not diminish his credibility in any way. In other words, trust us elite "journalists" because we know good journalism when we see it and you all clearly do not.

BS article if you can call it that.

Notice they are using anonymous source again yet nobody is complaining about an anonymous source when its good news, or a positive spin.

Barton made that @#$% up just to sit back with his buddies and laugh at how it plays out. Then they will fire off about why isn't anyone calling him a hack since he used anonymous sources.

The OM turnover might help us with Cam Akers. Since he and Trey Smith are EEs, they could be eligible to participate in some bowl practices with the team. That would be a big positive for peer recruiting.

Is that still allowed? Thought EEs couldn't practice until they get on campus in early January

That doesn't happen anymore

At this point the entire situation is farcical.

Ding. Ding. Ding.

I am on board with this.

:hi:

Difference is that yesterday's article can do more damage than today's article can do good. And let's be honest, nobody is reading today's article besides TN fans upset about yesterday's article. Yesterday's article was an attempt at a national article. Thus the length and the artwork that came with it. The supposed "weeks" of work that went into it. Today's article was a fluff piece that took 30 minutes of work for Barton Simmons to type up and hit send.

Haney was out of line with that article. It was a horse crap click bait hit piece and he is a joke for writing it.

It's pathetic but it is what passes for journalism these days. These self-righteous goobers with their twitter accounts trying to one up each other.

I'm really liking the way this class is shaping up. I know Bruin is out there though, so I'll just say I agree that the early marginal commitments is completely unnecessary tactic from Jones. It's almost like they don't trust how good they are at recruiting.

It's the way he recruits, and it works. Don't know how else to say it.

They cannot because our bowl is before they can enroll
