Was Barnhart a name already "out there?"

I saw him on some lists but not others.

Yes, but he recently was extended and I believe that could have undesirable financial implications. Probably wouldn't be insurmountable, but money seems to always play a role in UT's decisions-- and in this case, expediency does, too.

Gotcha. Thanks.

Brice has an article today saying Charlie Anderson would not block the Blackburn hire.

He also said the timeline hasn't changed. They want an AD by the first of the year.

That's true about Charlie. But they want a deal memo in place sooner, even if the AD doesn't transition until Jan 1. With all the talk about coaching changes, decisions need to be made.

Bolded - is CBJ, staff or all the above? Granted if CBJ moves on then a new staff is needed.

They have done a 360. Support was divided between Blackburn and Gilbert (and Blackburn had two influentials against him), so they wanted to widen the search to a longer list of national candidates. Things have changed, and now there is a sense of immediacy. They have gone back to a much shorter list. I get the sense that they have agreed in principle and will be moving quickly. IMO, Saturday's loss hurt Gilbert's chances, but no one has told me that specifically.

I just looked up who this Gilbert was. Assuming you mean Jon Gilbert who has focused a lot on the mens Basketball and had a hand in bringing in Donnie Tyndall and Rick Barnes. The DT hire was good, but also bad. And the RB hire was just made me throw my hands up. My view on Gilbert for AD: no....please no....please God no.....NOOOOOOOOOOOO.

Wow. He's 70. That'd be an interesting hire, on both sides.

I wonder what kind of money we would have to pay him. He has a pretty long history, and the last 16 in the NFL. He has only been with 3 NFL teams and was in college for 22 years before that, which included a stint at Texas.

Just in general. Contracts are expiring and staff turnover is expected-- some will leave and others could be terminated. Upgrades will require approval and of course, there's the question of CBJ's raise and extension and what implications that could have. And Bob Shoop's contract has issues to be addressed. The AD needs to be a guiding voice in all this, so they'd like to get the MOU in place soon.

Is that cause Jones is headed to Purdue? (I kid)

I know you've mentioned that the raise and extension have already been approved, but it would be hard for me to reconcile why it would still be on the table as a possibility.

Nope

Vandy isn't that bad. They beat Georgia on the road. Played Auburn lights out on the road and beat Ole miss. The loss to Vandy was a bad loss.

UGA isn't very good. Ole Miss isn't even the best 5-7 team in the country. They beat WKU by 1. Got handled by Tech. Scored over 17 points twice against P5 schools.

Yes, the UT plane is descending into the Purdue University Airport now with CBJ, Cotman and the Gaddy twins on board.

Edit: This is a joke, BTW. Before somebody from the FF starts tweeting about it.

Then there is this from an article about Hard Knocks:

"The undisputed star of the episode was 70-year-old strength and conditioning coach Rock Gullickson, who everybody seems to adore. He talks about his time coaching Brett Favre (Favre mentioned him in his Hall of Fame speech), and when he’s not around, players are seen on the sidelines asking where he is."

Yeah, I just read that too. Guess he's been a strength coach forever for a reason.

I think Gaulden in a NFL Safety.
He plays downhill like a Boss .

He never needs to turn his back to the LOS again with how well he tackles and reacts to the run game.

Exactly. Add 5-10 lbs. of muscle and cut him loose. He's a natural. Played out of position all season.
