And when he's not, it'll be chalked up to "NFL GM's are clueless" ala Marquez North. :)

I'm not predicting Dobbs will be a first rounder. I'm saying I value him as a first round prospect. And he will perform in the NFL as a first round type player.

I could care less about trying to predict what these crazy GMs will do. Remember these are the same clowns that thought Jared Goff was worth the first overall pick.

#6 overall player on my big board right now.

Here's my top 10:

1. DE Myles Garrett (Texas A&M)
2. WR Corey Davis (Western Michigan)
3. CB Cam Sutton (Tennessee)
4. DE Solomon Thomas (Stanford)
5. RB Alvin Kamara (Tennessee)
6. QB Josh Dobbs (Tennessee)
7. TE Evan Engram (Ole Miss)
8. DE Charles Harris (Missouri)
9. CB Jourdan Lewis (Michigan)
10. CB Marlon Humphrey (Alabama)

Hadn't seen this posted yet.

Quarterback grade: Joshua Dobbs, 82.0

Dobbs’ rushing leads the way for Vols’ offense

Dobbs had his moments through the air—he finished the game with a 75.7 adjusted completion percentage and connected with Josh Malone on a very pretty deep post for his only passing touchdown. Where the Tennessee QB really stood out, though, was running the ball. Dobbs finished the day with 117 rushing yards and three touchdowns while forcing four missed tackles; 41 of those yards and two of the touchdowns resulted from non-designed QB scrambles.

Top offensive grades:

QB Joshua Dobbs, 82.0
C Coleman Thomas, 79.6
TE Jason Croom, 76.5
WR Josh Malone, 74.7
HB John Kelly, 68.6

Up-and-down game from the offense

This wasn’t a great game from Tennessee’s offense overall, a unit that really benefitted from Dobbs’ playmaking ability when things broke down. Coleman Thomas led the offensive line, as he only allowed one QB pressure on 43 pass-blocking snaps. Tennessee’s offensive line in total only surrendered seven QB pressures on the day, with just one of those being a hit. Tight end Jason Croom had just two catches on three targets for 38 yards, but his 80.0 run-blocking grade led the Volunteers. WR Josh Malone caught five of six targets for 120 yards and a touchdown, and John Kelly gained 62 of his 70 yards after contact while forcing five missed tackles.

Top defensive grades:

CB Malik Foreman, 89.9
ED Derek Barnett, 86.5
LB Darrin Kirkland Jr., 83.9
CB Cameron Sutton, 80.3
ED LaTroy Lewis, 74.1

Record-setting night for Barnett

Barnett entered Saturday’s game needing just one sack to break Reggie White’s school sack record, and for much of the game, it felt like that one sack was just barely going to elude him. In the end, he recorded the record-breaking sack with 3:46 seconds to go in the game, after already tallying a staggering 12 pressures throughout the earlier stages of the outing. Barnett finished the night with 13 pressures—his highest total of the season—on 39 pass-rushing snaps. In the secondary, Malik Foreman allowed just three catches on seven targets for 66 yards—39 of those yards were gained on an incredible catch by Brandon Reilly—while also tallying a pass breakup. Kirkland led the team with six tackles, with five of those going for stops (a stop is a solo tackle that constitutes as a loss for the offense, given the situation).

5 days until deadline to declare for NFL draft. What is Hurd waiting on? Last I read, he still hasn't asked UT for permission to speak to other schools.

I think there is a chance he might really be quitting football.

Gonna try to beg Butch's forgiveness.

'18 4star MS WR Malik Heath

IN HIS OWN WORDS…

“I committed to Mississippi State because they were my first offer and they’re loyal," Heath said. "They have great fans too. I’ve been up there a lot and the people are great. It’s like a second home.

“Tennessee, Ole Miss, and Louisville are pushing for me right now," he said. "Louisville has a friend of mine, CJ Avery, committed. I have a friend named Ronald Walker up there too. My god-brother Trey Smith is at Louisville also. I like my recruiting coach up there, coach Scott. We stay texting and talking. I’m visiting Louisville in January.

“I’d say I’m 50-percent solid right now," said Heath. "Louisville and Tennessee are the main contenders.”

My little brother collects Football cards. Today, he traded a Micheal Jordan(I know basketball) card for a Reggie Cobb. He wanted me to look it up for him and I can't find it anywhere. So, can one of you gurus help. It's a Hardee's card.. made in 1995 has Reggie Cobb on the front in his Tennessee Jersey rushing. The Jordan Card he traded was worth quite a bit and I didn't tell him he made a mistake at all. He's a true VFL.

Been away for the past two days. What's going on with Thig? And now we're up to multiple changes? Can someone please catch me up? Pretty please. :)

Thig, along with other coaches, went to convention in Nashville. Thig followed a bunch of UNC's (his alma mater) coaches. Everyone decided Thig not a good coach and not a good recruiter anymore after calling Nashville moms a bunch of carps.

So...
Scott going to be OC.
We are going to hire Canales to coach QB.
Wes Welker is going to be a QC guy.
Walt Wells might coach OL if Mahoney goes.
Everyone wants Z gone as always.
Strip might move to admin role.
Hire Hoke in his place.
Thig wants UNC. UNC doesn't want him.
Martinez looking around. Only GA Southern wants him.

And we hired The Rock to be Strength coach!

Over a ~30 year career he's coached QBs all but 4 years so he certainly has experience at it. And he's been in college all but 1 year so he certainly has experience recruiting.

He might not walk in and be the stud recruiter of the staff but there's no reason to assume that someone else would be better just because they have a flashy name when they've never done it before.

Disagree here.

If you've got a guy like Chris Weinke, who's won a Heisman and has HS connections in Florida, or a guy like Ken Dorsey, who has worked multiple years with Cam Newton, you can absolutely assume that will carry more weight with recruits than Canales saying "well I've bounced around for a while and worked with Phillip Rivers in college a 15 years ago."

That's pretty much a given.

What we don't know is whether a guy like Weinke would actually do a better job coaching QBs than Canales can. No track record to suggest so.

Is it odd that Butch hasn't already named Scott as OC, most people reporting that it was close to a done deal.

He's waiting for people to come to terms with it before he announces so he'll face less backlash.

Smart move, IMO. I'm pretty sure he's planned on Scott being the guy from the moment Debord told him he was retiring.

Those things carry weight, but recruiting is all about relationships. Weinke and Dorsey might catch a kids ear, but can they build that relationship over a long period of time and get a commitment. How would they do recruiting non-QBs?

They might be better at recruiting than Canales, but I'm just saying its not a given that would come in and do better than someone who's been recruiting for over 20 years.

Still disagree, especially in terms to Weinke because of his IMG connections. He has experience working with high school kids at that level. It's safe to assume he'd be able to build a relationship.

Plus, Canales is getting up there in years and it's been 15 years since he's recruited for a P5 schools. Recruiting in the SEC is very different from trying to get kids to come play for you at North Texas, Utah State, or South Florida. Those are all schools that mostly draw off in-state kids who aren't getting big time offers. He's never been in recruiting battles like he'll see here.

For Weinke, you can say he's at least had a sideline view of them working at IMG.

Once again this is not a prediction of how the draft will go. This is simply my opinion of who the 10 best players are in this draft.

I'm done trying to predict the actions of these dumb NFL GMs.

I'll simply put out my rankings and we'll see in the future which one was more accurate in predicting NFL success.
