Butch is branching out.

.

1. Is he in Butch's "Good 'Ole Boy" network?

2. Did anybody predict this to happen?

3. Is anybody disappointed by this hire?

If the answer to all these questions is "NO", then where are all those that had Butch pegged to underwhelm with his buddies hired in all the open positions?

I remember his name being brought up and he's from UNC but what else do we know about this guy?

Good recruiter? Good Coach? Has he worked with Shoop before?

Either way though, Willie is gone!!! Our DBs will finally learn how to turn their head around!.. hopefully.

Good point; my question becomes, is there a UT connection somewhere? With Shoop? Or potential AD? Seems strange to not have ties to someone right?

On the AD issue: UT leadership can keep doing what they have been doing since 2002 and get the same mixed bag, roller coaster results. That's clearly an option - take the latest and greatest or one of the money guy's SWAG's or the search firm's "perfect" fit or whomever. Or they can take the guy that worked hard, smart, and networked into a successful AD career over a period of more than 2 decades. That person is a UT alum active during the Majors/Fulmer years while a student and later ran the football program under a couple of UT AD's and with the HOF coach for many years.

And we all know even if they don't blow it, they really want to.

I honestly hope he is connected with Shoop, or at the very least, Shoop was in on the interview. I applaud Butch for going outside of his circle again (Gillespie, Scott, Shoop) but it will make no difference if he is not going to execute Shoop's philosophies.

warren gonna watch film on these DBs and realize hes gonna have to really earn his pay. Bc these guys are awful back there. Big oppurtunity for him though.

He's probably already done some of that before making his decision. Which makes me like him even more.

That seems to only be an offensive guy and then not all the time. Tho, the hiring of Canales will bring that accusation right back

For some reason he has no issues going outside on defense. Inguess because offense is his baby

Nice hire with Warren: tenth ranked passing defense nationally in 2016 and NFL experience? Yes please. Seems like a solid resume.

Just turn your heads around fellas. Then go from there.

I know I'm in the minority but I'm fine with Butch hiring people he's comfortable with to run his offense. So far it's been a pretty good offense so let's be patient with that offensive hire when it happens.

Not true. Bruce lied, sealed his fate. University had knowledge of the photo and didn't share it with Bruce. If Bruce would have known of the photo, he wouldn't have lied. Up to that point it would have been a secondary violation and a minor penalty.

I mean I get it. I could have worded that better because we could have helped, more importantly Hamilton could have helped. But in the end when they showed Bruce the photo he could have made a decision and saved his job just by telling the truth right there too. If he would have done that he may still be with us.

And because the offense doesn't need an overhaul.

I agree. It has been stated many time before on here: The offensive scheme is good. The game planning and play calling have been the issue.

I'm of the opinion that you play every game like its the playoffs. Open the playbook and make the other team stop you. Who cares if it's Alabama or Austin Peay? Go out with the goal to score every play.

Again! Just like all these genius posters on here keep saying, CBJ hiring another one of his buddies instead of getting the best coach available. Sealing his own fate. What's next? His son going to be promoted to player-coach and put in charge of special teams. This must stop!
