Tennessee has wrapped up their winter program and when they return from spring break, it will be a full go on spring practice as team 121 will take to the practice field. The players have next week off for spring break before returning a week from Sunday. They start spring practice on Tueday, March 21st. Butch Jones will meet the media on Monday, March 20th. All eyes will be on the quarterback battle and while it isn't between the white lines yet, multiple people have said that Jarrett Guarantano has had a strong close to the winter session as he puts on more weight and has really worked to carve out a leadership role.
Drew Richmond continues to impress in the weight room as he adds to his max numbers across the board. He is a much stronger player now than a year ago. Also adding some weight and having a solid winter has been receiver Jeff George. That isn't some declaration that the long, rangy wideout is ready to make an impact. Just noting that some have been impressed with his hard work to this point. Another receiver that has turned some heads after finally getting healthy is redshirt freshman Latrell Williams.
Arguably the two guys people want to see in pads the most are Trey Smith and Quay Picou. Both have drawn rave reviews for their work. Is Picou really ready to be a factor after basically setting personal records in everything? Smith has been impressive in film study and in weight room work and some think he will make a push at guard right out of the gate.
