I don't care what other teams fans think, I care how recruits perceive it.

It's being made a bigger deal than it really is. Every program will be the victim of negative recruiting. Even Alabama. A blog post is going to be shuffled out of the recruits mind pretty quickly just based on sheer volume.

Can't believe I agree with bignewt on something.

It wouldn't have been a big deal if it wasn't similar to the hit piece from back in December and from the same guy.

The quote itself doesn't have that much of an impact but there's a bigger issue at play here.

It's a subliminal attempt at planting "if you are going just to play for this coach, you are going to be severely disappointed soon"

Entire staff change rumors carry more weight than blah "they're not that good" rumors.

But it was a stupid article either way. An assistant for a rival says blah blah blah. You could find an assistant to say that about 95% of programs just for recruiting purposes. Or maybe Pittman is just pissed about not being retained. Doesn't matter, because Haney isn't writing these hit jobs about 95% of programs, just one.

Just having a discussion buddy sounds like I am having more fun than you are. Is this not why we are here?

I gave Haney the benefit of the doubt the first time. This article is complete garbage. This cat is obviously obsessed with destroying the UT football program.

New writer for 247Sports, Havis Tranny, reports...

"Sources within the Tibetan city of Laksa indicate that they have not been in contact with UT coaches. It seems clear that UT Coach Butch Jones has lost the ability to keep Tennessee relevant on a wide scale.

His inability to build recruiting relationships outside of his preconceived hotbed areas may hinder the long-term development of the program. I think it is also clear that he does not support the "Free Tibet" movement, based on his silence, and is most likely a Red Commie. I have forwarded this information to the CIA, Wikileaks, and the NCAA."

When is Haney going to ask our coaches what they think about McElwain, Smart or Muschamp and then write an article about that?

I just say you guys don't know the whole story.

As they say there are two sides to every tale.

Pretty straight forward to me. He published a garbage quote that should never be published from a rival school. You don't ask them to be a source of your article. If you ask that question to keep it to your self or maybe mention it in radio in passing or in random conversation. It isn't worth an article. Haney is a tool

Take UT out of the situation. The two sides have nothing to do with UT.

Umm yea ... it does.

It sounds like he used his power (the pen) to get revenge on someone. Both articles reflect poorly on the school. It means very little that the school wasn't his primary target.

That's an egregious use of his position. He's a joke, plain and simple.

Even if you take UT out of the equation, this is an extremely suspect situation.

A person publishes two articles back-to-back that have questionable sources to paint a negative image of a particular university. The person also does this while failing to mention the other side.

It is incredibly bad journalistic practice-- and I would know as it is the field I am going into.

You would have to be sipping the Haney koolaid to not recognize that.

In other news:

Somehow, and don't ask me how, the Lady Vols might end up hosting tournament games. This might end up not happening, but the fact there is a chance blows my mind.

I agreed with everyone's opinion on this last article.

And honestly Haney is a friend so I will leave it at that.

No need to say anything more.
