At this point he knows he is wrong, he just doesn't want to admit it.

Ha yall can gang up on me all you want, tell me in a few months who even knows who Haney is. I get that it makes for more stimulating conversation to make things out to be bigger than they are I'm just trying to keep all you little kites grounded.

UT journalism school....where we groom you to hate your own university.

Noteable alums.....Paul Finebaum, Travis Haney, Wes Rucker

J school now pushes narrative more than ethics, or at least that's what a couple of journalism graduates relayed to me a few years back. Tfwiw.

Maybe it's just my professors, but we always emphasize integrity and ethics. I think those practices are more so bred at radio stations and papers where the boss is more interested in viewership and ratings that journalistic integrity.

You're right Newt, everybody else is wrong. We now see how much more mature and intelligent you are than the rest of us. Thank you for putting us in our place and keeping us "grounded"..... 🙄

I mostly agree with you. I'm sure a few people are paying attention. But we've seen this kind of bad publicity come and go. It ruffles a few feathers for a short time and then nobody gives a crap.

It's 2017. People have a very short attention span. They'll move on to the next hit piece or scandalous article or some other such nonsense.

There is not even a thread about this on the FF and those guys feed on negativity like piranhas on cattle.

I rest my case.

Probably should have noted that these guys weren't UT grads. Glad to hear UT is still maintaining ethical standards.

Just having a discussion buddy sounds like I am having more fun than you are. Is this not why we are here?

Eh, it's not the difference of opinion that bothers me. It's the insinuation that anyone who doesn't like hit pieces written against us by a tool bag with an obvious agenda is a moron. Moran maybe. The condescending tone. Would be different if you had just said "I don't really think it's a big deal". Instead you posted how you are on laughing at the ones who care about it.

But I think we both know your intention wasn't just discussion, it was to be condescending. At least when I'm being a smarta$$ I admit to it lol.

I thought it was a given by now that I am.
My original point was yes I thought it was funny that we are putting these recruiting site hacks on the same level as an actual journalist and yes I think we are all too close to it and yes I think we blow it out of proportion. Just my opinion no more right or wrong than anybody on here.
Ready for the weekend I guess.

On the "Audible" podcast with Bruce Feldman and Stewart Mandell this week they briefly talked about which college university "beats" are the toughest on their home team. They mentioned Texas as being particularly rough in terms of chewing up its own coaches (apparently Tom Herman has already come under some local fire). They said they would take up the topic more broadly in a few weeks. I'll be interested to hear. I do believe Knoxville media is terrible and does nothing to help the program. Kudos to Callahan and Rucker for going after Hainey. That guy definitely is biting the hand that is feeding him and for no good reason...

In other words...all of them.

Bad time to get into journalism, Mock (I also have a journalism degree).

This whole thing with 247 has just been comical. Here's what Rucker posted last night about the most recent Haney story:

- 247

From reading through the GV247 board today, it seems like Rucker and Callahan have basically teamed up and contacted Terry. The writing was on the wall that GV247 was about to nosedive, and they're working to make a save.

I am still utterly flabbergasted that Haney would think that was even remotely relevant. It is not something that an assistant would offer out of the blue, either, in my opinion. I think it is a quote that he had to work for. He must really hate Tennessee, and I really would have no idea why he would.

From Shannon Terry himself a couple of hours ago:

- 247

I find it hilarious that he is telling us to trust him and that we don't want him to step down. That smacks of hubris to me. And people who are prone to that sort of arrogance, tend to get their comeuppance at some point.
