I've lived here (Murfreesboro) my entire life minus 4 years in the Navy.

There are parts of Nashville that are so nice. There are parts that scare me just thinking about.

I'm sure Memphis is the same.

Knoxville too.

Can we all just get along?

Bama sucks

Not trying to argue or be funny. Did I see that there have been a couple of murders recently near the MTSU campus? That's not good.

Seriously there are about 5-8 shootings a month in the city limits.

All of them occur when I'm working somehow

I thought his response was very reasoned. I have never been to Memphis, so I cannot speak to its suckage or lack thereof, but the OP made a very compelling argument, IMO.

Anyone who prefaces a reply with "you're just a racist" is insecure in his argument. I'd point out the myriad of illogical and downright false statements in his novel, but I'm not going to stoop down to argue with someone who is classless and ignorant enough to throw out the racist card so casually. Much better for everyone if I just put him on ignore.

Also, your hockey team is going to get pounded, bring on the trash talk ;)

I am going to say this once and then be done with this topic. No one can deny that demographics have a lot to do with how people think about Memphis. No, I am not calling anyone racist either. But when you list a series of cities and the one that is hated has a different demographic, then it's not a coincidence.

I understand it. There are some rough things that happen in Memphis, and sometimes, it isn't pretty. It happens in every decent sized city, yet Memphis still is viewed as something different. Just like Nashville, the city has some very affluent areas and suburbs where the education is fantastic, the crime is low, and the parks are nice.

Put me on ignore if you choose, but people are fooling themselves if they think otherwise. And...just for the record, I am a conservative and not a minority.

Truth.

And I'm in the same boat as you.
