Tennessee will be a Nike school for three additional years, with more apparel on the way each year in an overhauled agreement between the two sides.

In a contract amendment signed in October, former Tennessee athletic director Dave Hart inked Nike as the Vols’ official apparel supplier until the 2025-26 academic year. Hart signed the revised and improved deal two months after Tennessee announced Hart would be retiring.

The contract extension, obtained by GoVols247 through an open records request, also provides Tennessee with more money from Nike and a steep increase in product allotment.

The original contract, signed in 2014, paid Tennessee $7.6 million through 2022-23. The contract extension brings the total compensation to $11.6 million over 11 years.

Nike was scheduled to pay Tennessee $1 million for each of the first four years of the contract, then $900,000 over the final three years. The new deal pays $1 million over seven years, between 2015-16 and 2022-23, and $1.2 million over the final three years.

The Vols previously had a total product allotment of $23.7 million over eight years. The contract extension, through the 2025-26 academic year, is worth $43.9 million in product allotment, with an additional million dollars added each year through the life of the contract.

The additional product allotment began in 2016-17, up from $2.6 million in the original contract to $3.6 million in the amendment. The figures increases $100,000 each year.

Tennessee’s annual Nike ELITE credit remained at $100,000 in the final three years of the extended contract, the same total as the original contract.

Base Compensation:

2016-17: $1,000,000
2017-18: $1,000,000
2018-19: $1,000,000
2019-20: $1,000,000
2020-21: $1,000,000
2021-22: $1,000,000
2022-23: $1,000,000
2023-24: $1,200,000
2024-25: $1,200,000
2025-26: $1,200,000

Annual Product Allotment:

2016-17: $3,600,000
2017-18: $3,700,000
2018-19: $3,800,000
2019-20: $3,900,000
2020-21: $4,000,000
2021-22: $4,100,000
2022-23: $4,200,000
2023-24: $4,300,000

That Nike deal sounds pretty sweet to me. However, Hart was a giant pile of crap so there is no way he did anything positive for UT. So...

Just my opinion as a former season ticket holder that Pekka typically does not perform well in high pressure situations. Yes he played outstanding earlier in the playoffs but is wilting under the glare of he bright lights. Saros is the goalie of the future. I would doubt the Preds protect Rinne in the expansion draft. all jmo
My son has been mocking me throughout the playoffs because I said before the season started that the Preds should trade Rinne for a star center or forward. I still think they should try to trade him this offseason.

Their enrollment is plummeting the last couple of years as well. It's down 35% or so.

At least they'll be a locked in win more times than not. They suck. Call it sour grapes but I still consider their two eastern division titles to be a total fluke. I think it's a pretty safe bet that they'll be cellar dwellers from here on out in most years.

Pekka is a hell of a goalie but he's getting older and Saros is supposed to be a really good goaltender. He played really well when given a chance this year. Trade Pekka now or at the end of next year and net 1-2 good players from it and that would be a positive trade for the Preds. I would hate to see Pekka go but I think it would be the best long term move for the Preds.

Trouble is his contract at $7M per year n still has a couple of years left. Lot of money to invest on a goalie who is trending down.

Hope folks got to hear the Ainge interview of Martinez this morning. Home run. Kudos to Butch and staff. Martinez is way beyond his years in maturity. The two of them QB talked about routes/passing scheme and Ainge was blown away. Laser timed 4.7/40 last year. If he stays healthy he's going to be really special. He had great things to say about the staff and Canales in particular. Best interview of a HS player I have heard in years.

I think it still goes at least 6. The Pens can play on the road, but Nashville is terrific at home.

They've outplayed the Pens in every category except scoring and penalties (the penalty minutes gap is insane). They're capable of winning games even in Pittsburgh if those dumb, dumb lapses in defense stop happening and if Pekka can return to earlier form. They do seem to be wilting in the spotlight, but maybe a couple home games can correct that.

I know they got blown out last night, but if you looked at anything but the score you'd have put money down that the Preds won both games. That means they at least have a chance of coming back.

That Nike deal is pretty sick.

Jerseys have looked great, apparel has been awesome. They take care of us.

Freak has warned me too many times. I'm not falling into this trap!

It's all good. I was just messing with Preds (and Butch) fans a little. Have a cup of coffee.

FWIW I am much more of a Butch fan now. Just want him to reduce his vocabulary some.

DESTIN, Fla. -- This column on Butch Jones must be written now, in the dead of the offseason when deep breaths can be taken. It is a time when such things can be discussed rationally.
Well, maybe.

What I'm about to propose may require one of those deep breaths, but here goes anyway: Butch Jones is underrated at Tennessee.

I know, I know. The narrative is the exact opposite: The Vols' coach has underachieved. But let's slow down for a second.

That is great to hear. Thanks for sharing. Ainge is my very favorite radio personality in town. I love his show.

I agree. They have to have great goaltending, though. If Rinne doesn't get it together, they're toast.
