Vastly improved defense, throwin' the ball downfield more and better short yardage offense. Expects us to be under center more, in general, but especially in short yardage. Also see more lead blocker. RB oriented....much more traditional Tennessee football....

Also said Ty Chandler is as good an incoming RB as he has ever seen at UT.....

As for recruiting, he said fans shouldn't worry...at all...about RBs, WRs and safeties....plenty out there and we'll be very good at those positions. Focus on what we get done at DL, QB, LB, and OTs........

Let everyone sleep on us this year. This team will be better than all the talking heads expect. Everyone's eyes will be opened eventually.

Dormady certainly appears capable of throwing the ball down field with success. The addition of Canales and his knowledge of the West Coast and BYU offenses of the past should help greatly with the throw game.

Last night I went to my brother's birthday party at the Sunsphere. My sister got Sterling Henton to dj. I've known him for years as my other brother played ball with him, but haven't talked to him in a while.

It's a big recruiting weekend and I couldn't help ask him who he thought was going to commit or who he thought we needed to get. He said he was pretty sure there would be several commits this weekend, but mentioned one player who he thinks we really, really need to get. Al Blades Jr. He said he's really impressive and would be huge for us. He said he thinks it's gonna happen with Blades.

What do you guys think about Blades, have you been "watching film". I don't know much about the kid, but the way Sterl talked about him, he must be a stud.

Well he's basically a 5* with offers from everyone so......

Film is nasty too

Thanks GFW. I've seen his thread, but haven't checked it out closely. I need to watch his highlights. I didn't think to much about the kid, I just thought he must be getting attention because of his old man, but apparently he is a baller in his own right.

I was sold after just hearing Sterling talk about him. It would be nice to add this guy, the class would really be looking even more phenomenal.

Sometimes in recruiting, none is better than a ton.

Last year on ‘Orange Carpet Day,’ Tennessee had a tidal wave of commits, as one after another, eight different prospects stood up during the festivities and said, “I want to be a Vol!”

It was like an Oprah car giveaway — only for UT’s scholarship spots.

While a flurry of commitments vaulted the Vols up the recruiting rankings, the feel-good vibes and summer steam quickly fizzled. The Vols faced a numbers crunch that plagued them throughout the rest of the cycle, and ultimately, three of the seven 2017 ‘Orange Carpet Day’ commits ended up elsewhere.

That’s why Saturday was different. There was no faux-mo.

Tennessee once again held its summer staple event, but when all the prospects trickled out of Neyland Stadium yesterday afternoon, not a single recruit had publicly pledged to the Vols.

And that’s ok.

Last year’s ‘Orange Carpet Day’ generated headlines. Saturday’s event could lead to future wins.
