Also...why hold someone's athleticism against him? If a guy is 6'8 250 and can move as fluidly as Lebron, that's still really impressive! Even if it is mostly genetic traits...I still remember him coming into the league as a tall skinny kid. He had the athleticism from birth, but it's not like he hasn't worked to turn his body into the tool it is.

I have to disagree with LeBron coming in as a skinny kid. Yes, he was smaller than he is now, but he had the most ready for the NBA body, I have ever seen coming straight out of high school

I think Jordan is GOAT, FTR, but dude played 15 NBA seasons. Meaning he failed to reach the Finals 9 times. I appreciate the clean 6-0 series record in the Finals. Yet we never hear about that. Maybe we would have had social media been present in the mid-90s. But LBJ gets some unfair treatment, IMO.

Some of y'all are just spittin' what you hear Skip and other talking heads are spewing on TV or radio with the hate on LBJ. At some point can't we appreciate the fact that this Lebron dude has taken his team 7 straight Finals? 8 overall Finals. In 14 years. So far. He's never lost in the first round. This Cavs team was the worst team in the league for 4 years while he won in Miami. Came back and immediately took them to the Finals. That's not overrated. That's the definition of an MVP.

Most overall playoff points in history of NBA. Yes, it took MJ 33 fewer games to reach his scoring total. But Lebron took 150 fewer shots than MJ to get the record.

The argument for GOAT is a fair one, IMO. I grew up watching MJ, and I don't think anyone will ever surpass him. But LBJ is one of the best passers of all time. He's shooting crazy efficient right now (yes, even from 3, Bass. Look it up). And he and Kyrie put down a 73-win team up 3-1 less than a year ago. We'll see how the rest of this series goes, but even if they get swept, he still has accomplished more than almost any other player in the history of this game. That legitimizes his legacy, IMO, as one of the GOAT's.

You're including the abbreviated season in which Jordan returned and the two charity versions when he played for the Wizards? What about the one he mostly missed because of a broken foot but dragged them into the playoffs and laid 60 on one of the most dominant Celtic teams of all time? Adjusted for that, I credit him with 6 championships in 11 of his full prime seasons.

Jordan would have Lebron flopping all over the court, faking cramps, crying for phantom fouls to be called and begging to come to the Bulls because he would never ever be able to beat the greatest of all time.

Rodman would have shut LeBron down completely.

Doesn't surprise me. All he's ever done is stand out when he plays football whether it's here at Tennessee, at the senior bowl, and now in OTAs for the Steelers.

Cam Sutton is just a really good football player.

Finally something we can all agree on

You're delusional if you think anybody is shutting LeBron down completely. Rodman would no doubt slow him down but LeBron gonna get his no matter who's in front of him.

Rodman was an athletic defensive freak who made life hell for guys in LeBrons size range.

I am really looking forward to seeing Chandler this year. I believe he may be the best back in the SEC before he's done at TN. He's good, and dang he's fast

I agree but he never faced a guy like LeBron. He's bigger and stronger than Rodman and he would have been too physically imposing. Doesn't mean Rodman wouldn't have slown him down, because I have no doubt that he would have. But to say completely shut LeBron down is crazy. Nobody has or ever will be able to do that.

It's a breakaway dunk with no defender in the play. Refs have very, very rarely called traveling in that situation for as long as I can remember watching basketball. And that goes for anybody, not just MJ or Lebron or [insert star here].

Now I'd absolutely agree that stars get away with a lot of dribbling violations in general, but on noncompetitive plays like that, it's better to just eat the whistle and give the fans some fun.
I wasn't saying he received special treatment on that play. I just think it's funny how the NBA basically doesn't have a traveling rule for all intents and purposes.

Yep. We'll never know the answer the situation I just posed of course but I do enjoy the debate. Listened to a lot of people who have watched both play and I've studied the two to a pretty great extent. Jordan is definitely the goat IMO but I don't think the gap is as wide as many make it out to be.

I just think the people that were there to witness both players say Jordan was the best.

Looking at stats or watching a couple games can't paint the picture of how awesome he was. He refused to lose and he was so much more mentally tough. The GOAT.

It's taken me a while to fully appreciate Lebron. He is the best player on the planet today. Has been for a while.
