I actually love LeBron James the person. He is a great role model for young black men. I love how outspoken he is about civil rights issues in this country. I love the fact he has a black wife who he knew growing up. I love the fact he has 3 black children. I love the fact he brought along his childhood friends Maverick Carter and Rich Paul and made them business partners.

I have zero disdain for LeBron James. I simply don't think he's as good at basketball as some of you and the media claims. He's a top 5 talent no doubt. And in terms of accomplishments he's definitely top 10. But he's not as good as Michael Jordan or right behind him. That is the only thing I am arguing against.

I don't know how pointing out an athlete's flaws have become hating? LeBron James does not have a basketball resume that compares to Michael Jordan. He has too many black marks on his resume like the 2011 finals against Dallas and the fact his finals record might fall to 3-5. Plus before he gets to Jordan there are many other nba legends being disrespected because he hasn't passed them yet.
Lebron James is a more complete basketball player than Michael Jordan. The only thing Jordan had that Lebron doesn't is the killer instinct and scoring ability. I don't understand people like who bring up Finals records when that is a team accomplishment. Lebron James has a VERY comparable basketball resume. Funny how the only accomplishments that stand out are the team accomplishments.. I watched Jordan play and I've watched Lebron since he was in high school, they are both amazing basketball players. Lebron has done things on the court that's Jordan couldn't do, just like Jordan could do things Lebron can't. Bottom line: whoever you say is the GOAT, there is no question who is 1b, in either scenario.

In the 2012 finals Kevin Durant was a 23 year old kid. So was Russell Westbrook. And Harden was 22. They were puppies. LeBron was 27 years old and in his physical prime. Chris Bosh was 28. And D-Wade was 30. Its was boys versus men that year.

Now Kevin Durant is a 28 year old full grown man in his physical prime.

Lets see if LeBron can beat Kevin Durant the man rather than Kevin Durant the kid.
Lol...No. Let's see if Lebron, Kyrie, & Kevin Love can beat Durant, Steph, Draymond, & Klay.

It is highly infectious. I'm not allowed to watch though. The Preds only win when I go to bed.

Yes, we continue to appreciate your sacrifice for the greater good.

Reruns/highlights can be fun!

Keep up the good work!!

Hey Bass

This is the introduction of the teams. No place like Smashville!

Chills.

Cousin's husband works as a manager on their business side. He's up til midnight sending "I can't get you tickets" emails.

(And as I Titans fan, I desperately want this feeling to bleed over).

I also think Vols fans could learn a whole hell of a lot from what's happening in Bridgestone. (See the reaction after Rinne gave up the first goal).

Just because LeBron is better at filling up a stat sheet doesn't make him a more complete player than Michael Jordan. I think this is the big disconnect between people like you and me. You think because LeBron is great at filling up a stat sheet that it makes him a more complete player.

I judge players by what I see watching them play on the court not by what the stat sheet says after the game. I don't care for box scores. Michael Jordan as a basketball player had no weaknesses. He could shoot, drive, post up, defend, and play make. He could score efficiently in the half court from the perimeter, in the post, and driving to the basket. And be was elite at all of these skills. Plus his footwork was sublime.

LeBron James is actually a very limited player. He lacks the scoring versatility of a Michael Jordan. As a post player, his moves are very limited. On the perimeter, his shot can be streaky but in most cases he's an unreliable jump shooter. If a team is able to stay on his shooters and stop him from getting to the rim, LeBron James becomes extraordinarily average.

Its honestly laughable to say LeBron James is a more complete player than Michael Jordan. The opposite is actually true. Michael Jordan as a basketball player had no flaws. LeBron James on the other hand has several flaws that limit him as a basketball player.

I judge by what I see too, my guy.. and Jordan does not make the people around him better like Lebron does. That's simply a fact, anyone with basketball knowledge will tell you that.

The difference between you & me is that I don't judge an individual's legacy off of team accomplishments. And if I did, I would focus on what that individual meant to that team. Which, Lebron means more to the Cavs than MJ ever did for the Bulls. Jordan leaves the Bulls and they still win 60 games, Lebron leaves and the Cavs win 20 games.

Regarding your analysis of Lebron's skill set, THAT is laughable.. Even moreso given your outlandish analyses of players in other sports.
I'll respect the other posters by not replying any further but you're clearly not a basketball junkie lol

Well we can agree to disagree with regard to our own personal feelings regarding these players based on the eye test. Now lets see how the facts play themselves out.

Michael Jordan went 6 for 6 in the NBA Finals and was the Finals MVP every time. He was never outplayed by the SG across from him.

LeBron James is in danger of going 3 for 8 in NBA Finals and is about to have the SF across from him outplay him in the series and win Finals MVP.

I'm pretty sure no one in their right mind will think LeBron is in the same class as Michael Jordan if what happened in game 1 keeps repeating itself for the rest of the series. LeBron James can't be outplayed by Kevin Durant and still claim to be the best of all time. Or anywhere close to it.

Okay, I lied. I'm responding.
Lebron isn't being "outplayed" by KD, the Cavaliers are being outplayed by the Warriors. KD had a hell of a game, no doubt, not trying to diminish that at all.. BUT - How do you expect me to take your stance seriously when you approach a 5 on 5 game as if it were a 1v1... lol
And anyone with quality basketball knowledge already has Lebron right there with MJ.

I just grabbed the dumbest parts of your post in the quote. You apparently haven't watched much basketball. LeBron James has one peer as an offensive basketball player, Michael Jordan. He's a better distributor (you know, where you pass the ball) than MJ ever was. MJ is the superior scorer but, I might add, that the majority of MJ's scoring came from driving to the basket. He was over halfway through his career when he developed his deadly mid-range game... think after Birmingham. Of course, I can say these things because I actually watched both of them play.

I agree with your point about stopping LeBron. As long as a team can stop LeBron from doing all the things that LeBron James does like distributing the ball or driving to the rim they can make him and average player. The problem is that no team has done that consistently for any portion of his career.

On the perimeter his shot is just as good as Jordan's. Of course, that's the stat sheet talking and not whatever anecdotal evidence you want to provide.

Didn't see a thread for him by Callahan has put in a CB for a 2019 DE named Bill Norton. Anybody heard of him?

Then you're lying to yourself.

Everyone with a healthy pair of eyes saw Kevin Durant outplay LeBron James on both sides of the floor in game 1.

Everyone.

Everyone.
Lebron doubled KD's rebounds and had 1 less assist.
Considering Durant is nothing but a scorer, it isn't that shocking that he scored 10 more points than Lebron in Game 1.

Just like one performance didn't make Dobbs a Heisman candidate, Game 1 isn't going to remove Lebron from the GOAT discussion.
