Butch used 4 'much's to describe how the secondary would be improved this year. I don't think he's had a streak of practices where he said each one is the best the team's had like this. How much is genuine or coachspeak I wonder

Wasn't referring to power. Scheme confused Chief and he couldn't seem to make adjustments. Ran us out of the Cotton Bowl two years later.

If what I've posted is your opinion of a defense for those guys, you are either French or play in the Big 12. Really dislike Rucker, and don't really even know who Ferrara is. I've only heard his name here, and since I don't live in Knoxville, I doubt I'll find out. I do think Brice got swept up with the tidal wave and is bitter. Can't blame him for that.

I do accept the reality of how it all works. They aren't there to boost the program. They are there to create and sell content, and, as the point has been made, being first and being provacative sells. But, even though I want to read realistic analysis, I don't need provacative for the sake of being provacative.

Same thing? Did you miss the part where I said I wouldn't pop off to the media about it?

Surely the nuance isn't that hard for you. I'll give you bullet points on what my thoughts were (for the 3rd! time) just so maybe it might sink in:

1. Having one of those lists is fine
2. Talking to the media about it is dopey.

Any questions? If you need it, I can try to use fewer and smaller words next time.

Sabah continuously takes shots at the media but I haven't seen anyone in the media refer to him as Shorty as Mark Weidmer referred to Butch as Coach Crewcut.

Well, tactics like that are bush league anyway, so I'm not complaining that there aren't additional instances. If I recall, Weidmer is a UK guy so it's no surprise if he's throwing barbs at UT- he's not been a fountain of UT positivity during his time there. I think it affects his credibility, but I have no stake in it, since I don't subscribe or click to his stuff.

But because it's bush league, that's precisely why Butch doesn't need to address it.

A large section of our fanbase doesn't like to be reminded that we sucked for a decade. To them Tennessee has never stopped being Tennessee of the 90s despite several painful seasons to the contrary. They simply can't cope with it. The problem is until they recognize where we were they won't recognize the progress that's been made or that hell if we stick with it we might actually make it back to the top of the mountain.
