A couple good plays a game at WR isn't impactful?

Pretty comical to think last year at this time Breaker was posting that JJ wasn't comfortable at WR and looked bad in the practice videos. Lol

We need to remember VN wanted Jennings at safety and now his couple of good plays a game have won games.

Bruin, you have some selective reading my dude. I said a couple of good plays isn't as impactful as having a great corner lock his side of the field. Vandy had the the worst offense in the league and Dobbs and company had a fantastic game. Teams that rely on out scoring opponents usually find ways to lose.

no im not being biased lol.. so u want me to say callaway and palmer are better than Brandon? if they was I would admit that..not once have anyone seen me on here say that Brandon was better than Malone because he was not better than him..im not going to say right now he is better than Jennings because of experience..im not going to say callaway, palmer and murphy are better than Brandon because they haven't done anything nor barely played a down yet.. lol

How's Shamburger doing?

Shamburger has had a nice opening to start camp. Labruzza has generated the most buzz, but Tennessee likes what it has in Shamburger. He'll play this fall. Remember, he was 19 last year. He's more physically mature than most freshmen.

We have no way of knowing if he is a shutdown corner. Just wishful thinking at this point. Personally I think the guy ends up going pro as a WR after his junior year but that's just my opinion.

Well yeah but we don't know that he is going to be a great receiver either. I think he has the talent to be great at both. Looking at our current roster it seems like the need is easily at corner. I might just still be in that old mindset of putting your best athletes on defense and a good scheme can produce on offense even if the talent level is not the best.

How do you "admit" OPINIONS? That's what you got, Uncle Greazy...a very biased personal opinion. You don't have any extra access than other posters...just vested interest. I like Brandon and his chances but "playing time" ain't this huge advantage you're portraying. Callaway has one more career TD by the way. :)

I understand projecting with our opinions on the future of players is what this board is all about but in this case I can't see why soapy here don't trust the coaches. Epsaiclly considering we went thru this same thing with Jennings. The biggest thing is Byrd showed excellent flashes as a true freshmen at WR.

If we compare Jennings as a freshmen and Byrd what would it tell us?

Imo it would tell us the futur is bright for Byrd at WR

So what's up with Shaq Wiggins? How is he coming along? From what I have read from VQ they are barely covering anything with the DB's and LB's. I could be wrong on that, though. The reason I ask is that the few times I have read Wiggins name in the VQ updates I've read it is due to a WR getting past him for a catch.

Doug Matthews seemed to think he's doing fine and will play a lot - just adjusting to a new system with new terminology. Maybe that has slowed him down a little bit. Sounds like he's going to be heavily in the rotation.

I'm not sure what others were expecting (SEC defensive player of the year - and decade? First round draft pick? leader of the defense?), but sounds like he's meeting my expectations anyway.

Thanks :hi: and good to hear that. I was just wondering how he was coming along because I haven't read anything much on how well the DB's are doing. It seems to be very offense heavy right now in the reports with DL mixed in there as well. The new terminology and new defensive system, like you said, is expected to slow him down a little. But I am not fretting it will for long. He is an older CB and I'm sure he will pick it up quite well before the season starts.
