No doubt. He might be our second best outside receiver already. I like him just behind Jauan. And I like Latrell Williams best in the slot.

Our 4 best receivers are JJ, Josh Palmer, Latrell Williams, and Tyler Byrd IMO.

If you think Palmer is already better than Calloway and Johnson then you just might be a little crazy. He has looked great early for a true freshman but he has a steep learning curve to be ahead of those guys by game 1.

I still like Byrd at corner I think he could end up like Adoree Jackson if other playmakers at WR step up.

This ⬆. Give him 10-15 snaps a game at defense and get him ready to go to CB next year. Then give him 3-5 snaps a game on offense in 2018. Jmo, tifwiw

BrB is right regarding J-Smith and the opponents not game planning around him. Others are right in pointing out his drops. As he built his body, he lost his fantastic catching skills from HS. Don't know if it is in his head or just gone. He was an acrobat at times in HS with his catches. Sure hasn't been as a Vol. Will see if it is more of the same or improves.

S&C program didn't do him well. Got him bigger but didn't make him more explosive as an athlete. Explosive doesn't always equate to speed. Just being a more dynamic athlete would've helped(Jumping, body control, quickness, etc....).

I just want to see a prepared team against GT. With fire in its belly and clean execution.

I don't want to see the same type of team we saw against appy ST.

That team was flat and had no killler instinct.

Bottom line I want to see a team that gives it everything to win. You can't just expect to show up and win. And you must play to win.

Team should show up to dominate. Make them question how they got on the field with Tennessee. That's what needs to be the attitude week in and week out.

So just compare his numbers with the other slot receivers. I think Josh may be more knowledgeable about the offense and may be a better downfiel blocker. I'm sure there's a good rationale for why he is on the field. Tyler Byrd in 2016 couldn't play every snap and JJ couldn't play every snap in 2015. We needed him. jmo.

Going to be like the QB position.

There's a difference in having a potentially " just good enough" player and a potentially "special" player. Who will the coaches roll with is the question that'll be answered soon. Talent in the wings is special.

Ridiculous to keep Byrd on offense full time. IMO

So far our db's look really fast and explosive in camp. We'll see when the season starts. But Byrd is probably much more needed on offense than defense. We need explosive plays in the passing game this year. Byrd and Williams can give us that. Guys that can turn 10 yard receptions into 70 yard td's. Hopefully Callaway is capable as well.

Byrd can play sometimes on offense but he's dominant DB. We need those type of guys.

He may or may not be ahead of them this year. I just think he's more talented. He adds size and speed. Marquez has nice size and leaping ability but not much in the way of speed. Similar Brandon is a smooth route runner with great hands but he's not as big or fast as Palmer.

Josh Palmer just looks more physically imposing. I think he ultimately ends up being the better receiver.

I guarantee you Palmer isn't faster than Callaway.

It's hard to describe but all of his motions (route running, catching the ball, etc) look so fluid and natural. He kind of reminds me of Amari Cooper. I don't think/know he's as fast cooper or has the ability to make guys miss, but everything looks easy for Palmer a la Cooper

Byrd is a good/very good WR but I think he would be an outstanding CB. It really stinks to have kept him there when we have such an emergence of all of our WRs and are debating whether Moseley is going to start at CB

While I agree that Byrd would have been a top flight db (possibly the best on our team) I think he will have a huge season on offense this year. Williams may be the only person in the roster faster than Byrd.

Palmer no where near the size of Brandon..Brandon is 6'3 about 200 pounds..Brandon wingspan is 6'9

What y'all jumping the gun on guys that haven't played a down In college football..Palmer nor Latrell should be on this list

Both QBs are potentially special...more on the way.
