2013 Team composite rankings TN 25, FL 3
2014 Team composite rankings TN 7, FL 9
2015 Team composite rankings TN 4, FL 21
2016 Team composite rankings TN 14, FL 12
2017 Team composite rankings TN 17, FL 10

Tell me where is the massive difference in us searching for a qb and them. Oh and remember we curb stomped them last year in which a lot of 2013 Team upper classmen were playing their last game.

Don't just look at the rankings. Break it down by 4 and 5 star recruits. You'll see that we blow them out in the classes that matter. Our 2014, 2015, and 2016 recruiting classes combined for something like 42 4-star and 5-star recruits accord to the 247 composite. Florida combined for something like 19. That is a massive gap in upper class talent. The only reason the 4-year recruiting average is even close between us is the 2017 recruiting class. They did a great job recruiting 4-star players compared to us.

But we have to remember freshmen as a whole make less impact than seniors, juniors, and sophomores. So while Florida's 2017 class is more talented than us. Our 2014, 2015, and yes even 2016 class is significantly more talented than Florida's. The only reason Florida sneaked ahead of us in the 2016 class rankings is because they signed a lot more 3-star players than we did. Remember we took a small class that year of only 21 commits and we still landed 10 4-star and 5-star prospects.

UF has a chance to be us last year. Hyped all off-season, and then have a disappoint year. Just for different reasons than us.

I agree. But they'll be massively more disappointing than us. I mean we won 8 regular season games after being projected to win 10 regular season games. That 2 less wins than the expectation. And our excuse was the most starts lost to injury of any team in the country.

Florida is expected to win 9 games and they might end up with 5. That's almost double the numbers of losses below expectations that Tennesee had. And they would have no excuse based on injuries like us. Because if they also had injuries during this stretch like we had last year, they might go 3-9.

Yet if Florida has a 7-5, 8-4 season they won't get as much crap as we're getting this off season next off season

This is from fla 247sports about today's practice:

"The offense's start was less than encouraging
If you were hoping for a rather immediate and sudden turnaround for Florida on offense, the start to Monday's practice probably wasn't all that reassuring.

The offense was out of sync completely in the fastball 11-on-11 portion of practice.

The second- and third-string units led off the session simultaneously, and it took just one play for things to turn south. Working with the backups, tight end Moral Stephens dropped a simple out route from Feleipe Franks.

Moments later, Jordan Smith manhandled the third-team offensive line for an easy sack on Luke Del Rio. Luke Ancrum and CeCe Jefferson followed that up with a routine sack on Franks.

Finally, Feleipe Franks tried to force in a throw to Dre Massey that never had a chance. Walk-on linebacker Cristian Garcia should have picked it off, but it bounced off his chest and narrowly fell incomplete between two defenders.

Malik Zaire, working with the first-team offense for the first time in any of the open sessions the media has seen, didn't fare much better.

Jordan Scarlett was stoned at the line of scrimmage on the first play for very little gain. Then Zaire and receiver Joshua Hammond were on the wrong page on a deep route. Zaire threw a corner and Hammond appeared to be running a fly, never getting his head around at all to see the ball.

On the last play of fastball, Zaire scrambled to his left and threw on the run to Brandon Powell. The pass went into the dirt a good five feet before it ever reached Powell.

Though the quarterbacks cleaned things up throwing the routes-on-air drill, the start of Monday's practice made it clear there's still plenty of work to be done on offense. Communication and execution still need major improvement."

I continue to stand by what I said a couple posts ago about the QB situation and bringing in Zaire. The horizon doesn't look good for UF.

But I'm sure the media will just say, "That defense, tho..."

The class recruiting rankings are less accurate than the preseason team talent composite rankings. 247 scrubbed the rosters vs the recruiting classes last year to account for attrition and published the real time roster rankings. They've not published the 2017 rankings version yet that I can find. Only the 2015 and 2016 rankings editions are available on their site.

They do have the individual rosters up for 2017 though and they show us as having 32 bluechippers and Florida having 27 bluechippers. 7 of our bluechippers are either freshmen or redshirt freshmen, 12 of 27 florida bluechippers are either freshmen or redshirt freshmen. So we have 25 upperclass bluechippers and Florida has 15 listed on our respective fall camp rosters per 247.

Heading into the 2016 season our roster had, according to 247, 36 4&5 stars while Florida only had 24 4&5 stars on their 2016 roster. In 2015, our preseason roster had 35 bluechips and Florida had 25. I think 2015 is the year we took the talent lead over Florida and so far it appears we're holding onto that lead.

UF is going to get blasted by Michigan week one. I'm going to enjoy watching that game.

I'm not arguing the outcome of that game but following on from my previous post, Michigan, according to 247, has 30 bluechippers on their roster for 2017 and 12 are either freshmen or redshirt freshmen, leaving 18 upperclass bluechippers.

I guess, from a talent standpoint, if Michigan blasts them it could bode well for us a couple weeks later since we are arguably a bit more talented than Michigan in terms of the # of bluechippers.

We have reached that time of year when my mind can foresee no loss. I foresee our OL being road graders that will control the LOS in the SEC. The deep game continues to grow. The RBs hit the creases and are gone. JJ will not be denied. On D the front 7 takes the next step and a seasoned secondary is stingy.

Berry is a pace setter with special teams leading the nation with KO returns and Trevor Daniel leads the nation with the longest net punting average. I am helpless.

Hope it's sign of Bama apocalypse. These guys Plus Emmons were not players Saban was expecting to lose. We'll see.

I on a roll for rosters evaluations. :)

That was a good read by the way.

For Alabama, they have 16 5-stars and 46 4-stars on their fall camp roster. That's a total of 62 bluechippers, 19 of which are either freshmen or redshirt freshmen, 5 5-stars, and 14 4-stars. So they have 43 upperclass bluechippers.

The great part is that they don't look bad because the defense is so great. The offense looks bad because they are bad. The defense has a couple of players but Duke Dawson is one of the starting CBs. We repeatedly abused him last year. He blew coverage on Hurd's TD. He got schooled on the back shoulder throw to Malone on our second TD drive. Then he got obliterated on Malone's TD where he split out out of the backfield. I am probably missing some but he is not that good. If he is a starter then I am not scared of their DBs. Their LBs are pedestrian. The only shining light is a couple guys like Jefferson on the DL, but if we double team him and take him out of the equation then we should not have any problems scoring points. Yeah. Not seeing a CFB playoff caliber roster but what do I know.

Returning production is another metric that people look at - after talent. The general consensus seems to be that talent trumps experience.

Florida returns 81% of its offensive production and 53% of its defensive production giving it a total overall returning production of 67% which ranks #50 in the nation according to Bill Connelly.

Michigan returns 46% of its offensive production and 22% of its defensive production giving it a total overall returning production of 34% which ranks #127 in the nation.

Georgia Tech returns 62% of its offensive production and 82% of its defensive production giving it a total overall returning production of 72% which ranks #29 in the nation.

Tennessee returns 42% of its offensive production and 61% of its defensive production giving it at total overall returning production of 51% which ranks #109 in the nation.

UF's offense is going to be bad, especially the 1st game of the season, their defense is definitely going to take a step back. And with Harbaugh (the much better coach) having all off season to prepare, I think the Wolverines come out and make a statement.

I just can't see UF scoring many points at all and Michigan should be able to put up points. I'm thinking something like 38-13.

Negative 7.5? I'm definitely taking the over. Lol.

I think we win at least 9 and UF misses their mark with only 7 or 8.

Lol -7.5 would be easy

The point is this board is acting as if the national media is lazy for hyping the Gators when the experts in the desert think they are 1.5 games better than is And that is with a much harder schedule

Michigan's defense scores more than the Florida offense. Book it.
