Returning production is another metric that people look at - after talent. The general consensus seems to be that talent trumps experience.

Florida returns 81% of its offensive production and 53% of its defensive production giving it a total overall returning production of 67% which ranks #50 in the nation according to Bill Connelly.

Michigan returns 46% of its offensive production and 22% of its defensive production giving it a total overall returning production of 34% which ranks #127 in the nation.

Georgia Tech returns 62% of its offensive production and 82% of its defensive production giving it a total overall returning production of 72% which ranks #29 in the nation.

Tennessee returns 42% of its offensive production and 61% of its defensive production giving it at total overall returning production of 51% which ranks #109 in the nation.

81% of the 108th (yards) or 94th (points) ranked offense last year. Not sure that's a good thing.

Vols had G5-caliber speed and talent on the 2013 roster. That was an abysmal collection of talent for Tennessee.

We were Kentucky-slow at basically every position. It's actually a miracle that Butch beat USC. That might be the biggest SEC upset in the past decade, and no one ever talks about it other than us and USC fans.

Unbelievable how slow we were.

Butch gets very little Cred for that SC win. That was a MASSIVE upset.

Also, so folks don't forget: Butch outcoached and punked out the Ole Ball Coach at the end of that game. That's no small feat, Butch can coach.

It's bad pub for Saban but it also reinforces an idea that may already be on the mind of Hurts. Saban may have made promises to Tua and since Saban is on record for saying Hurts wasn't developed as a QB last year - well like Barnett said, he knew right away he would be transferring. Anything that can reinforce the idea that Saban is not to be trusted by his players can only help to disrupt the machine he has built down there.

A lot of these very talented players that Bama stocks on its roster go there unitentionally to watch their dreams of making it to the NFL die. I don't guess you can fault Saban. There's not a lot of drop off, if any, if and when you are forced to go to next man up and besides, he gets to keep these guys off his opponents rosters. While they would be stars and likely high draft picks if they had gone elsewhere, they ride the pine for him until their dreams eventually turn into nightmares.

That's a good point.

Just to play a little devil's advocate, he's also 2-2 vs Vandy and 0-fer against Muschamp still.

81% of a turd is still mostly turd. Lol.

I heard a discussion about this on local radio this morning. It appears that Saban was not quite honest with them and then when Barnett transferred after game 4, Saban ripped him publicly.

I thought about Butch's handling of Hurd and the public comments that ensued. I don't ever think I heard one negative thing from Butch yet, he still got ripped for the situation. Kind of pissed me off comparing the two situations. Just win, baby, and you can do anything you want.

That does appear to be the case. Saban is pretty much untouchable when it comes to criticism.

That's like the old good news and bad news.

The good news is Vanderbilt returns 21 starters. The bad news is that Vanderbilt returns 21 starters from units that ranked 12th and 14th in the league last year.

To be fair, they were humming along just fine early in the season, even racked up 300 yards on us in the first half of our game. The second half of our game, Derek Barnett & Co. stole their soul and they never recovered from that. I'm serious. I think that 2nd half against us messed with their confidence on offense for the rest of the year. I'd like for Darrell Taylor & Co. to do that again when we visit the swamp this year. He strikes me as just the man to lead a fired up front for us.

They struggled against UMass. They did have a good game against UK, but the UK QB's were 3/14 with 3 interceptions.

I think McElwain knew our secondary was weak last year and exploited it early. I expect a better unit this year.

Staley's picks are stale. 6-6? Lol!

We won't lose to UK, GT, or SC. Anyone who picked us to lose either of those games has zero credibility. I also don't think we lose to all of UF, UGA, LAY, and Bama. I think we can take at two or three of those. Heck. Might as well beat em all.

15-0

Let us GO!
