Seeee, there it is. Told everybody there was a reasonable explanation for this resignation. That tells us everything we need to know. Lol, that tells us nothing. Actually it might, just maybe, be a reminder (that most will forget before scrolling onto the next comment) that when we spout opinions about what we think MUST be done by the people making decisions we actually developed our opinion without anywhere near all the information that is known by the decision-makers.

Does the Braves only draft pitchers? They have made 7 picks, and 5 are pitchers.

Yeah that was the concern last year. They only drafted pitchers until they got to the international draft where they picked up a few hitters, including the number 1 prospect out there, but he's only 16. They have got to start getting hitters, they did however get an outfielder in the second round this year so that's good. They have said before that pitchers are always valuable trade commodities, but they need some hitters in their farm system. They are loaded with top pitching prospects.

Need to start getting some of those prospects ready for the bigtime, like Newcomb. Dickey and Colon are too old, and need to hang it up. Teheran has been pretty meh this year. Foltynewicz looked to be coming on nicely his last 2 starts, until he was hammered last night by the Nats.

I think they need arms when they were dominant it was because of the arms.

They've got them. That's the point. They are loaded in the minors with pitching prospects. It's bats they are lacking now at the minor league level. Phillips will be gone next year, Markakis and Kemp maybe too, that leaves Swanson, Inciarte, Freddie and maybe Tyler Flowers at the core. Albies hasn't been setting the world on fire. Ruiz has shown promise. The pitching prospects are there, who are the hitters?

Agreed. Colon is probably done already. Newcomb will probably take his spot if he can keep it going. Folty will be great, right now he is just too inconsistent. Teheran is what he is at this point. He isn't an ace, but he's a quality pitcher. There are guys that need to get ready such as Fried and others, but have to be careful. They brought up Blair a little too soon and he hasn't been the same since. Hopefully Wisler can get it going as well, he's got potential.

Pitching prospects are notoriously difficult to project. Plus, everyone seems to blow out their elbow these days. Can't have too many arms.

They'll make a move for a hitter soon. Markakis and Kemp won't be around much longer.
