Just want to point out that earlier this week I earned my VolNation 10th star. Interestingly, I have seen several other long time posters mention the same thing in the last few weeks.

What a wild, strange Vol ride it has been since August 2007.

And, honestly, this upcoming season seems to be one of the toughest to predict for me. Usually I at least have a "feeling" (which often turns out wrong by the way). I don't really have any easy to gauge expectations this time.

Is this year gonna be a struggle or are WGWTFA?

The team composition seems to make me think more of the odds of WTFAs, but that may just be my typical August optimism starting to creep in.

GBFO!
I'm sticking with WGWTFA until i'm shown other wise. GBO!

My first thought after seeing that was "damn he was never that fired up for a TD here." My second thought was, "well it IS his first NFL TD."

I remember he did a funny little high step into the end zone on his first college touchdown. His teammates gave him a hard time over it. He did get excited though.

I asked this last night after Dobbs 2nd INT but no one answered and I really would like to know the answer. It's a hard concept for me to understand.

I obviously don't understand QB play at that level but should the QB know the DE has dropped into coverage on that zone blitz?

Seems to me it's hard to take the time to check and make sure the blind side is clear. Not much time to hit that short pass

I'm no expert but my thoughts are yes, the QB should know but I think it is more of an experience/ game planning type thing. A QB isn't looking at a DE at the time of the snap on a pass, but from watching film and gaining more experience you can tell that it's coming by seeing certain movements on the backend of the defense if that makes sense.

First game of his career against that defense then yeah he probably had no idea it was coming

If it were impossible to see, I think you'd see a lot more INT. The guy was clearly standing there. Dobbs assumed that area would be open from presnap and it wasn't. He made a mistake and paid for it.

Thanks for that answer. Sounds like it might be more of an instinct feel based on experience. Makes sense

I thought the DE was just in the blind side when the decision was made to throw the ball as he was dropping into that area in the middle. Maybe he was visible

Gotta admit, I don't believe you were trolling now. My apologies on jumping the gun on ya. Been on here a long time and usually a poster who posts things in rumor form more than once are trolls so I just assumed. And we all know what that makes us look like. Understand that it was how you brought the info to the board that made me initially think you as a troll. Still, my apologies for doing so. :hi:

Hey thanks man and sorry again I came across that way. Lessons learned.

OMG..that's ridiculous. You can fall and break your neck taking a shower...are you gonna stop showering? People die doing the things they love everywhere and everyminute..it happens.

True but you are wrong on this one. Playing football and having an injury and perhaps death in a very rare instance is one thing. However, when you have highschool kids doing a Navy Seal drill that they have no business doing no matter how athletic they may be, should be looked at differently.

It is a drill I have never seen advocated for a football team to use in a practice. It was irresponsible and people don't seem to really understand the potential harm that trees can cause. I had a great grandfather who died at 39 in a logging accident. Known people who have fell to their deaths falling from a tree. No reason to have a group of high school kids with a log over the heads at a football practice.

As a parent, I agree with you that you have to let your kids live life.

However, a parent just lost their child. I really hope that you aren't making light of this tragic incident. I am probably misinterpreting your posts. I am pretty sure you are a good guy...

My only question would be, if there's only enough players to carry the log as long as they ALL are helping, isn't that what should be questioned? If one player fails, should not the rest be able to handle it without someone die?

Another reason not to do it. High school coaches are not highly trained SEAL instructors.

Agreed. I read that season 3 of the show will focus on a JUCO in Kansas. Buddy Stephens got really old this season.

Independence CC...if Sheriron Jones hadn't transferred AGAIN, we could've seen him.

Good grief. It was absolutely silly to be doing that.

Swain and the VolTwit crew saying D is way ahead of O but D looks average and we are going to be terrible this fall.
