Dealing with life, Everett. I lost my father at the beginning of last season. His funeral was the evening of the Appy State game. We, of course, brought in a flat screen and streamed the game at the funeral home. After that, I just kinda got jaded. My father was a VFL. Same season tickets for 30 years. He's the reason I bleed orange. Losing the man whom I'd always chat with after games about how our boys played was really pretty hard on me. I didn't even get on here at all for quite some time. But the Vols are a love of mine and I couldn't stay away forever. So I'm trying to renew my love and move forward without my General. Go Big Orange!

Heck, if we're going by first names now, I guess I'll confess... my name is Nick :hi:

Lord, are you really getting crucified for putting something as mundane as "This could be bad" in a post?

RF in full snowflake mode.

Posting something like what he did without hard sure facts is only asking for trouble. Under CBJ, the school has really gone out of its way to do things the right way. You can tell through the immediate and indefinite suspensions when a player screws up until the case is resolved. They found somebody doing something wrong in the AD and they fired him! If the AA has a problem with that then I'll need a bigger tin foil hat. Plus, UT would have had auditors in there with a fine tooth comb to find any wrongdoing that needed to be self reported. To think otherwise is crazy.

Also, he ran with the Jack Jones quitting the team rumor with facts again. He's developing a pattern. He may be getting his info from somewhere else but his source sucks. He should find another source or refrain from posting this sort of crap until he can substantiate his facts.

He's probably a journalism major. He'll fit right in in today's journalism environment and their apparant inability to check facts before releasing them into the wild.

Welcome back. I love talking UT Football too. I'm always around these parts. Nobody can ever replace your dad but there's lots of folks here to talk football with.

I appreciate that Mr. Lichtenwalter! I'll try to speak up more often around here.

Funny that I don't think many posters here have been as optimistic about this season as I have been. I have even said we need Florida to beat Michigan because we might be in the playoff picture. Doesn't sound like worst case scenario to me.

Good info, but I can't fully tell what the VQ guys think of this year. On the podcast, they took a more measured tone and seemed to indicate they were developing concerns at OL, DE, LB and with the corners. On OL, they were worried about the injuries, guys missing practice, and how long it is/will take the coaches to identify the starting 5. At LB, they said the players getting the most "buzz" now are the same ones that played and were mediocre last year (e.g., McDowell, Jumper, Berry), and that some of the guys we thought might emerge (e.g., Austin Smith) don't seem to be now that practice is in full swing. They said DE looks like a four man rotation, and indicated Butler looks more and more like he'll slide inside. For the corners, they said Justin Martin seems to be the only guy to lock a position down, and they aren't sure who will fill the other one. They also threw in that Alexis Johnson just seems like a depth player and doesn't appear to be a difference maker.

On the flipside, they had glowing things to say about Ty Chandler (apparently he's getting better the longer practice goes on), Theo Jackson (one of the biggest surprises in camp), Josh Palmer and a few others.

Made me (personally) think expectations of around 8-4 are probably still pretty reasonable, and we should tamper down expectations that we'll do significantly better than that. And I'm surprised at the sudden worry about OL. I tend to think that will pass once Tatum and Smith are back.

You smelled blood in the water and launched an IF campaign. Your favorite thing to do. You may be overall optimistic for this team but the possibility of a negative event has you salivating.

False. It's worth a conversation which is what message boards are for. Stop putting words in peoples mouths. You aren't that important for that

I didn't put any words anywhere. You read about a possible negative event and went into conjecture mode. You do it every time. You don't care about facts. You hide behind IF and revel in the pandemonium that ensues. I'm done responding to you.

Lol. Zeke suspended for 6 games. Jerry Jones running a prison, not a team.

Goodell trying to look consistent knowing this falls apart on appeal. Only odd move is alleging there's evidence from their investigation. If there was, Elliott would have a conviction on his resume. Won't serve a day.

I hear ya man and that may be what I do. I will give him a shot though. If it all blows over, then I'll be the first to recognize that the info was bologna, or at least not to the degree that he initially conveyed, and post my apologies. All I'm doing is throwing info out I hear. I'm not a journalist and I'm not publishing this stuff, just making folks aware of some rumblings.
