I understand wanting to avoid the chop blocks but I say go low on them before they can go low on you. Crowd the line and take out their blockers before they can take you out. Then there isn't anybody but their backs and our LBs.

I can also understand wanting to try and avoid the cut blocks. What I don't understand is the coaches inability to move away from something that was failing miserably. Clemson appeared to attack that offense. Everybody running to the point of attack. They were trying to blow the plays up before they could materialize. We seemed to let GT bring the fight to us.

Seriously?
Already been said

Bad leader in Shoop
Soft soft soft
Zero depth on the DL
Bunch of 4/5 stars underperforming
LBs aren't up to par
Only one safety worth a damn
No "attitude"
No confidence
Bad leader in shoop

You made the statement. I'm simply asking you to back up what you said which you apparently can't do.

You said this game is identical to App St and that you could see the games we lost and the exact reason why "from a mile away".

Guess that argument falls apart when you actually have to put something in record, huh?

You know damn well this board all off season said this O was easily prepared for with time. Suddenly it isn't. Lol. It was #theygoingtoleanr all preseaon. All we learned was this D still sucks

The only problem with that is they run a lot of different crap that they don't normally run according to some of their fans.

Dude you ask for a list and got it. Unless this Defesne makes a drastic turn they are losing all of the big 4 games and likely another one due to an underachieving group.

Yeah. Poor game plan IMO. If you let that offense come to you they will gain 4 or 5 yards each play and wear you down. Kinda like what happened to us on Monday. Proud of them for sacking up when it mattered.

Guys, we all should have seen last year coming. Looking back, last year when we held app state to under 300 yards and only 13 points we should have seen the defense was gonna crumble after the alabama game.

It was right there. Could have seen it coming a mile away.

I will sadly and unfortunately agree with Bruin about one thing... outside of a handful of players, I felt like we looked extremely soft Monday night. They were easily the more physical team all night long, and they looked to hit us hard no matter what side of the ball they were on. Because the game plan was so conservative, I am hoping that made our defensive players play tentative which caused the softness. I am not going to fully judge them based off of one game, but if this continues over the next couple games, I will be extremely concerned.

For sure. It doesn't worry me so much that their offense knocked us around a little bit. That's how they play on that side. But their defense doing anything they want on a 3 man rush? That's worrisome.

Ok. It's Wednesday and we don't have our next game thread. Nick's thread creation has been soft lately. If he keeps this up we are at best a 7-5 team. SMH.

Selective memory Tony. You are forgetting laying the ball on the ground a bunch of times but in typical VN fashion we recovered them and got the W so the lack of discipline didn't matter.

lmao you just named all SEC teams as potential losses. This is garbage. hahahhaaha :eek:lol:

I would pick us to lose to every team listed expect for Kentucky if we played this week. Good thing we don't play. Mizzu might score 60 on us.

Dobbs has always been loose with the football. Next.

Revisionist history.

Bruin, we will see. You have a very high chance of looking foolish. We have a week and a half to see which direction we go.

I thought Dormady did well. It was the drops killing us in the beginning. Stats would've been a lot better without those drops. Yeah, he seemed afraid of the pressure at times, but we were playing without a starting OT

I don't know of anyone that said that. A lot of people said that it would be easier/ we would have a better chance to prepare for that offense when given time, but no one said that it would be easy out right.

Damn sure hope so. Sadly I think the only way this season is saved is to fire Shoop after florida. Hopefully their O is so bad I am dead wrong but he is out of mulligans.

I've always thought it is pretty common knowledge that the way to stop that offense from grinding out yards is to attack it, but you also risk giving up huge plays when doing that, which is something that did not happen in this game for the most part. The biggest plays they had were because Justin Martin is not a good football player. Also without looking I'm wondering how far in the hole did Clemson put them? Did they start out sputtering on O like we did?
